I try to read often but at the moment uni readings are keeping me busy.
I thinks it's a good idea and I'm going to start keeping notes of books I've read.
Also, rate my textbooks.

About 800 since I was 20, the last ~6 years.
I lean more towards non-fic, but it's close to 50/50 in terms of pages. I read a lot of very short non-fiction.
Every day, 100 words at least. Essays/non-fiction topics and quotes.
When it's original work, on my laptop. Taking notes/quotes, it's in my moleskine.

You know I sometimes wonder if there's really any fundamental difference between threads like these and the ones on whatsapp forwards and facebook which ask for likes/shares else you will "die loveless while bad luck will fall on your family for next 7 years".
What is it that separates us from the people who genuinely forward those posts?
>inb4 but ANON we're doing it IRONICALL!!1! lolz
so? does that make this less of a shitpost? the fundamental idea is the same, propagating an old pointless meme/shitpost through a bunch of autists on a social media platform.
What's the point? What sort of gratification do you people get from this? Even if you do derive any from it, how does that make your life less miserable and pathetic than the neckbeard who buys pillows for a wife and loves spamming my little pony on several boards. (not that there's anything wrong with that. just that anons would be more inclined to look down on him than the autists who actually are in this thread which is really strange imo)
This is not a rant or an insult. But I'm expressing genuine bafflement at how threads/memes like this exist. How can anyone possibly find them entertaining is completely beyond me. Please someone explain. Help me understand exactly what makes memes like doot doot, mr skeltal so appealing. Please. enlighten me.
We live short lives. There are a millions of unread books out there that will blow you away and somehow you anons think an acceptable use of time is coming online and replying in this thread (this coming from a guy who just masturbated thrice to some pretty terrible porn just 30 minutes ago so even I'm not putting myself above blame).
Why are we as humans so incapable of grasping the terrible depth of the irrationality prevalent in how we spend our time? It is so despicable to see ourselves have an idea of how limited our time is (as evidenced by countless aphorisms) yet be so utterly incapable of acting upon that in full effect. This detestation is towards everyone here including myself.
Please explain to me how people can bring themselves to actively participate in this thread. Please.

I've marked somewhere between 300 and 400 on Goodreads but I've read a good deal more.
I'm usually reading one fiction and one non-fiction book at any given time. Currently Hopscotch by Julio Cortazar and Wall Street by Doug Henwood.
When I was writing regularly I did it daily. I'm busy working and interviewing for a new job right now so I'm not writing at the moment. Did it on my laptop.

My reading rate was pretty similar when I exclusively read fiction. My reading rate is now about 50 books a year since read only nonfic now.

I have a 5 day a week job, the secret isto use audiobooks
>>7738746
Read 42 books last year, I'm a full time student, work 24 hours a week and have a wide and two kids. The key is audio books for any kind of travel or commute (I listen to lighter books that are more about aesthetic and story, things like dickens or dumas or Hugo - they're reaper to digest this way than, say: heavy philosophy tomes) at home and between classes I read as much as possible, which isn't a lot with everything I have on my plate. Also : disregard silly notions like friends and socializing. These are a mere distraction from reading.

>How many books have you read?
Dunno exaclty, between 5-7 hundred.
>Do you alternate between fiction and nonfiction like an autodidact ought?
Nah, I pick stuff up at pure random and trust my subconscious brain to sort it out. Probably results in not enough nonfiction though.
>How often do you write?
Not as often as I should. (Though I've been home sick for a week and making progress on a story)
>What do you write with/on?
WordPad. Bit ghetto, but it does the job.
>>7732073
>How many books have you read?
I'd reckon somewhere around 300, although I've only really been reading patrician literature since my late teens.
>Do you alternate between fiction and nonfiction like an autodidact ought?
I'm heavy on the fiction. But I read non-fiction quite a bit too.
>How often do you write?
Depends. The last couple of days, I've been writing everyday, netting around 500 words each day. However before that, I didn't write for couple of weeks. I have a very oscilating writing ethic - sometimes, when I get inspiration, I can get couple thousand words down on the spot, and sometimes I can't squeeze out even a single line.
>What do you write with/on?
I write on my laptop and use WriteMonkey (which is actually really handy).
I already got wet today, let the little shit suffer.

How do you only read 10-15 a year as a student? I have to read 10-15 per class in graduate school. That's not to mention my independent research out of class, which I usually read exhaustively on because I'm scared of missing something and seeming like an idiot.
I have a 30+ hour a week job, but it's easy, from home and stress-free, so I read most of the time I'm not working.
