I'm a history major at University and needed to read a book about the 20th century towards the end of the post-war era for an exam.
I had to pick two nations to go further in depth with and picked Japan and France.
The part about Japan was hella interesting and I'm now looking for historically accurate novels (or any other kind of literature really) about this topic, especially about the population's daily life. Any recommendations?

You'd be better off with Ozu films for daily life
The daily life stuff doesn't tend to get translated from what I can tell
