Microsoft Works 2000
why do people use wordpad over word?
Notepad++
because simplicity, tabs
Recently got into OneNote. I like the organization and drawing feature.
Google Docs
pros:
-free
-simple
-all a starter really needs
cons:
-you're a cog in the system
What's wrong with Word? you can dick about with fonts, a little vain but I like to, it'l tell you if you've made a spelling gaff, if I've been going for hours on coffee and cigi's I'm like to, and I suppose I just use it because when you're young people it's the program you're shown as "the word processing program". I don't get why people make the jump to program with less features? I'm interested to here about ones with more though. Also, If you get someone to crit, with word you they can use the comments feature to make annotations and you can use track changes to get a clear idea of how you're editing something. Why switch to Wordpad????
Scrivener
Literally no cons
WriteMonkey and Darkroom

OP here, I too use Word as it is straight forward and has everything I need and more. Having thousands of templates at my immediate disposal is a feature that I have not yet utilized much but plan on exploiting more in the somewhat near future.I suppose that the reason is that "Write first format after" is the cause for these opensource programs gaining so much steam at the moment.
MS Paint
Same as >>7710711. It takes some effort to learn all its ins and outs (but I wouldn’t really call that a con).
