Absolutely. Very funny, but also cynical and intelligent.

Damn man don't do that

Definitely. Just because he isn't mentioned very much on /lit/ doesn't mean he's not a great author. His books are hilarious and enjoyable overall.

I'm a recent convert to Twain. Like others I never enjoyed huck Finn in grade school. It was only in my late twenties that I discovered innocence abroad. Completely changed my opinion. Funny, sarcastic and wholly American...perhaps it's true - he was The American. Then now and forever.

Yes. The Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's court is my favorite. Rather cynical though

Absolutely. He is one of America's greatest writers.

OP here.

What do you guys think about Complete Short Stories and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn? Are those his best work ever?

His short stories are wonderful and Huck Finn is worth reading because of its cultural significance alone. I'd also recommend reading some of his essays, I find them to be both fun and insightful.

Just finished Huck Finn. Loved it, seriously very endearing without being shallow. And hilarious most of the time.

If you don't like Twain, you are probably a Frenchman.

Huck Finn is an inimitable masterpiece that I would recommend everyone in their 20s to rediscover after their undoubtedly unsatisfying experience with it in grade school.

What's the best collection of Twain essays?
