What are some good leftist publications?

I subscribe to Economist (which I find to be a bit too topical and spastic) and Foreign Affairs (which I greatly enjoy).

Is pic related any good?

The New Internationalist is the most leftist publication I know of. Its format is interesting, with one major story per publication, with a lot detail and sources, along with smaller blips of information and stories from around the world.

I'm in a similar situation, been reading TE for 4 years but I really only do it because of how international it is (and the Finance & Econ section), most of its opinions are pretty right wing.

Lol the left is eating itself so now even Zizek is "right wing".

For a leftist publication, yes. And The Economist is definitely not leftist, while Foreign Affairs is probably middle-wing.

No, the anon is referencing a resent article attacking Zizek for his unorthodox interpretation of the immigration crisis.

https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2016/02/08/zize-f08.html

But I do agree with the anon, the left is so far up its own ass that the only viable radical position for most people is rightwing ultranationalism. Which sucks donkey balls desu family.

Idea being those two are on the right and I want something opposite. New Internationalist looks interesting. Now I just need a good conservative monthly.
>>
Are there any conservative magazines and literary publications that are neither neo-fascist nor anti-intellectual/religious right (American Right)?
>>
I'm surprised no one has mentioned NLR yet. If you want serious research/theory/criticism it should be a starting point. Everything is availiable online as well.

Link to a great interview with an author I just read.

Communism can only work in a racially homogeneous society populated by people with high IQ and good impulse control. Embracing civil rights was the worst mistake the left ever made

The funny thing about left wing hatred of Zizek is he gets it from both the old school "tankie" soviet apologists and the postmodern SJW faction

It's a shame that everyone who'd want to live in a Communist society has a low IQ and no impulse control.

No, most of these comments are full of shit and don’t understand Zizek. The man views the world via a Lananian/Hegelian framework. Meanwhile the majority (hopefully a vocal minority) of leftists adhere to a identity politics viewpoint, a framework where to anathematize one’s self of guilt is the end goal. These people are the stereotypical ‘radical’ leftist, a person who finds more joy in calling someone a racist then actually ending it.

The article itself is in response to Zizek’s recent article about the mass rapes in Cologne:
http://www.newstatesman.com/world/europe/2016/01/slavoj-zizek-cologne-attacks

Zizek’s main takeaway is that the left (in an attempt to be right, rather than doing right) proposes policies that many Europeans view as unrealistic and improbable. Ideas like total freedom of movement without identification, and the general feeling that these war refugees represent some idealized proletariat which will save Europe from its capitalist ways. Zizek points out that this policy, while admirable in virtue, will alienate people and cause them to gravitate towards the far-right as the only valid radical option. Ironically this “critique of Zizek” article only fuels the flames of this process by painting the left as a closed minded group, and at the same moment falling into the right-wing stereotype of leftism.
