Start with Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, and then Job. They makes sense of suffering, humility, and generosity. Proverbs is chock full of practical advice. Ecclesiastes provides an answer to nihilism and existential angst. The most important lesson you'll gain from this is the value of wisdom. With wisdom and knowledge as your foci, you can advance through life knowing it only gets easier, and then you turn to dust. Really, it's quite peaceful.
