In a way, as long as you don't show it to anybody. Most writers start off writing about themselves and then move onto other, more interesting topics.
currently adapting my dads first draft of his memoir (of a 1989 sporting tour) - injecting lots of fiction and more importantly reflection/meaning - otherwise there's no story, it's just chaos and self-interest.
