This frustrates fans of of H.P. Lovecraft as it overlooks the tone and themes of his work in favour of glorifying the pulpy, less significant ideas, such as vague descriptions of giant space monsters.

It doesn't really bother me as I've only read a few of his stories and never really got too excited about them, have a friend who is driven mad by people falsely using "Lovecraftian" though yes.
