Worst meme-tier descriptions of books you've heard.

I say that as shorthand for "the book you like is shit, but I will concede that you found it a pleasant reading".

A chilling page turner
A stunning debut
>>
>UNPUTDOWNABLE
>>
It has great subtle psychological aspects described really well and it's shame people overlook that fact when describing it!

I've heard a girl describe 50 shades of gray using these words
>>
>Well it's a story about love, deception, greed, lust and...unbridled enthusiasm.
>>

What the fuck is that from...seinfeld? Is it seinfeld?

We can't let the damned Jerries have the monopoly on compounds.
>>
>a light romp through[...]
>the plot is really[...]
>Kafkaesque, Orwellian
>tackles themes such as <list of common concepts involved tangentially in the story>

Yep, this is probably the most common description ever.
>>
>a page turner
>unputdownable
>A meditation on
>An epic meditation on
>A transcendental meditation on
>searing
>"Praise for [another of the author's books]:"
>"[Author name], PhD"

>New York Times bestseller

>a page turner
>unputdownable
>A meditation on

I realize that these are all cliches used by unimaginative book reviewers, but these are all valid descriptions that convey clear, concise book qualities.

I'd rather a reviewer write in simple, descriptive cliches than use meandering, inflated prose in an effort to be original (see: any master's thesis in literary criticism).
