Hi /lit/ I've seen the request and share thread and ive downloaded some juicy books.
The problem is that i had never read books in english so I dont have a rich vocabulary. I just read online articles and watch films and series in english.
Anyway I tried to read sone of the books but its kinda hard.
So could you recommend me some books that are enjoyable but also easy for my simple mind.
With love,me

Anagrama's translation of Lolita is particularly bad.
I think that's the old version, translated by Tejedor. Tejedor was a high school teacher in Argentina, and was afraid of the reprecrusions translating something like Lolita would have, so he toned it waaay down, there are a lot of parts missing too.
If it's the new version translated by Roca it's a little bit better, but not much.

To be frank, If you hadn't been studying thoroughly English by reading ever since you were a little child then you will never, repeat, never ever be able to do so.

And again I have to listen to these justifications. Kill yourself.

Hanging is the only way.
I have the same problem
Catcher in rye was easy only words I didnt know were obsolete.
Bukowski is a drunk fuck so his prose is very simple, sadly I have enjoyed only one of his books (ham on rye)

Up until I was 18 my english was pretty bad. At around that age I started to watch movies without subtitles and reading in english. Today I'm 23 and have absolutely no problem reading even "difficult" books in english.

What if I'm already turned 24 and just starting to learn English, is it possible to fulfil it in, say, 5 years? Or am I too late?
>>7503610
How can he possibly know?
I guess its harder but doable
>>7503610
Your english is pretty decent for someone who has just started learning it. Not only is it possible but it will actually not even take a long time. I'd guess that after something like 10 or 15 books you'll be reading fluently.

I take it that if I'm gonna be studying on a daily basis for around 3-5 hours a day I'll be able to read Moby-Dick in its original language. But if that will seem to me impossible, I'll rape some ripe twat and divide her into several parts mother fuckers!!!!

What is your take on Spanish itself? Is it harder than English to learn and how much is it flexible?
>>7503717
Idk... People say english is easier because TV and movies and reasons, as well as grammatical male/female distinctions, but I'm sure it's pretty much the same shit. Equally "easy" to learn.
