I hope you already know English, Classical Greek, Latin, Hebrew, German, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch, Danish, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Arabic - if not, your priorities are seriously fucked up.
Concern with English language lineage and indo European heritage doesn't necessarily lead most directly to Sanskrit lel

I'd prefer to learn Pali first so I can read the Tathagata's words in something close to the original, after that maybe Sanskrit
