I'll put my question here I guess. What are some books that deal with finding meaning in life when there doesn't seem to be any? I haven't read DFW, does he fit here?

For me the only purpose in life is to learn as much as possible. The ability to learn and understand is all that separates us from the animals. So the only way to really understand the meaning of life is to learn more. I have no books to suggest for this because it's a pretty personal thing. Isis unveiled is pretty interesting

What are some books to read when dealing with complete apathy to being completely alone? What's the literary equivalent of "Friends", "Cougar Town" and other group of friends shows that'll show me I'm missing out on something worthwhile.

Based on his meme response to the meaning of life, he's probably not studying anything and will never have an appreciation for or understand the work involved in truly understanding something to the point you reach out and touch the edge of human knowledge, then extend beyond it.

A Little Life deals with friendship but is also exhaustingly depressive as well.

I like Carl Jung's work and I would like to read into more eastern religions like buddhism. I also program computers which involves tons of learning.

How is that a meme response? You're a judgmental asshole.
