Hey lit,
Do you have any recommendations for really engrossing novels? The type that you start reading and then want to do nothing but spend the rest of the day reading them. For me at least not all of the books I love feel like that.

Spy Who Came In From The Cold did that for me

Watership Down too

The Stand was pretty enthralling from a purely entertainment perspective

Why is this place so elitist? The Martian is great. As a holder of a Bachelor's degree in a Stem related subfield, I can attest to it's genuine accuracy and very unique story. It indubitably knocked my socks off.

If on a Winter's Night a Traveller did that for me. There's something about the second person writing and the playfulness if the book that was very captivating.

OP, I literally cannot recommend the Martian enough. I have a bachelor with honour degree in aeronautical engineering so trust me, I know what i'm talking about when I say the Martian is very intelligent and with a lot to laugh about too. Faith in humanity restored/10.

Modiano's Missing Person. I picked it up just intending to get a start before bed, I ended up staying awake until 5am to finish it in one shot.

Proust.
