>she's a deaf/mute with a heart of gold trying to express her love for that book, and by proxy, OP
>I'm a ventriloquist
>>7479891
lol.
Aziz Ansari referenced that in Master Of None.
is that why you bought it?
>be on bus reading pic related
>girl taps me on the shoulder and points to the book
>she starts sucking my dick
STEM masterrace
>>7479891
should have told her off otherwise you just endorse her behavior
>>7479902
.. are you implying you bought and read an aziz ansari book? have you even bothered watching his standup comedy? it's probably the shittiest most recycled skill-less form of comedy
>>7479921
Master of None is his show.
I'm implying that you bought a book you heard him mention on his show.
And I happen to like his standup.
>>7479921
Not that guy but I saw him at my college once, it was like listening to someone who used to go to /r9k/ but then became self-aware enough to only make acceptable comments
0/10, only disgust for people who think that shit is good
>>7479926
I wasn't the guy you replied to I'm just some anon that has Netflix and likes standup comedy and tried watching aziz ansari once
if you like him from parks and rec (like I do) I'm pretty sure he doesn't write his own lines
he should just stick to acting; my mom is literally reading modern romance and she hasn't read a book in like 12 years, it would be a good thing if she wasn't just reading it because a bunch of middle aged juvenile cougar women pressured her into it
>>7479897
you... you monster. Deaf mute qt's are amazing.
>>7479891
Well, that's pretty much the moral of the story anyways, so. Spot on.
>>7479891
>Implying you're not just Sylvia Plath saying this so we'll go read your book
>>7479905
kek
Would marry/10
>>7479891
She was a patrician in the wild who exercised her scorn for plebs rather than remain silent.
What a heroine.

Sylvia Plath October 27, 1932 – February 11, 1963 was an American poet, novelist, and short-story writer. The Bel Jar is a very popular book. It is in fact one of the best books ever written, if not the best. Get your facts straight before humiliating yourself...
>>7480708
>being this baited
>>7479902
Sylvia Plath is way more well known that Aziz Ansari, especially amongst the type of people who browse lit. That's like asking someone if they watched Star Wars because someone on smosh referenced it.
>>7480708
The oven's done preheating, anon-kun.
>>7481090
why the fuck would you preheat an oven before putting your head in it?

>>7481533
An author addicted to acid and other psychedelics wrote a novel about various characters and conspiracies taking place in the second world war. A lot of it makes to sense, but it has a very aesthetic, almost Joyican, style of prose which, for me, is its biggest attraction.
>>7481548
A lot of it makes no sense, pardon.
>>7481198
People killed themselves in ovens by gassing themselves. What, did you think people literally set their heads on fire?
>>7479926
master of none was awesome b/c of eric wareheim
aziz is ight
>>7480708
this was extremely painful to read, friend

>get up and quickly walk away before she can reach me
Better luck next time, b****.
>>7479902
Are you telling me you never heard of Sylvia Plath until she was mentioned by some trendy comedian who will soon be forgotten?
>>7480314
I'm not Sylvia Plath you fuckers. Sylvia Plath is obviously dead and there's no way I could even live that long.
I'd fuck Sylvia Plath
Git gud OP
>>7479891

Honestly I don't think the book would have been as widely accepted as it did if she didn't Kurt Cobain herself after writing it.
>>7483654
The context of her life and it ending is a seal of authenticity for the emotions written in the book. So on one hand you're correct, on the other you seem to think it's because of
>much edgy suicide lit
Meme and therefore you're an moran.
Good books about converting pagans?
fucking hell im demented
>>7481198
>he thinks oven suicides are done by roasting oneself to death
>>7479902
Masters of None
>Brown people finally catch up to yuppies.
>>7483664
How am I a moron if I'm correct in my assumption?
>>7483666
Anglo Saxon poetry, bud.
>>7483846
Your conclusion is correct, your reasoning is not.
For example, we can agree that one day the sun will cease to shine. If one of us thinks that it's because the great goat arcturus is going to eat it, that person is a moron.
>>7479905
Did you even get an A in real analysis? If you didn't you are a fucking loser.
>>7483881
How the fuck is what I said even remotely close to that example? I said that I don't 'think' her work would have as much acclaim if she didn't commit suicide in passing.
You called me a moron because you assumed that I was pulling some edgy meme shit when I literally just threw out a thought out there that is actually pretty true. You're making mountains out of anthills and doing a really shitty job of proving your point.
>>7482325
>Be on bus reading pic related.
>I think. Maybe. At least I thought so.
>Girl (Or maybe it was a man) taps my shoulder, knee, hip, or chest.
>Points to the book
>There was no girl.
>There was no bus
>There is no me.
>>7481513
It's about a guy who can predict rockets with his boner
>>7483889
Not the guy you're talking to, but by referencing Kurt Cobain its reasonable to infer that you're saying that The book has acclaim because people got emotional over her death and lifted her work to greater heights purely out of emotion/pity. His point may be a bit OTT calling you a moron, but you are implying le edgy suicide meme.
Got The Bell Jar, her complete poetry collection and her journals for my birthday for some reason. In what order should I read them?
Would reading her journals first be sensible to give context to her poems and TBJ?
>>7481816
For you
>>7481554
Get out of here guys I don't believe you
>>7484197
The protagonist of The Bell Jar is a poet, and obviously just a mirror of Sylvia. I haven't read her poetry yet so I can't offer a really informed opinion but I just read TBJ and now I'm much more eager to read her poetry. The prose of TBJ was tremendous imo
>>7485195
Maybe I'll start with TBJ then unless somebody else offers up an opinion.
