>could care less
>>
saying could care less is perfectly fine tbqh
most of the time you probably could care less
>>
>>7479343
You listen here you dumb shit

That phrase is used to explain that you don't care about something. If you "could" care less, it means your value on the care-o-meter is greater than 0, which implies you DO care.

How the fuck has the vast majority of people completely forgotten about 1st grade grammar?
>>
>>7479349
you obviously care enough to feel compelled to assert how much you care.
>>
>>7479349
you are an autist.

"how did you like the film?"
"well, I could care less," same as saying, "eh, it wasn't the WORST movie I have seen," which means still it was p bad.
>>
>I dindu nothing
>>
>>7479354
But that's not how people mean it you troglodyte. If someone wants to say "I don't care much for it," normal human beings who speak English will just say "I didn't care about it too much," or some variation. When the average philistine says "I could care less," what they mean is that they couldn't care less, but they're just retarded. Nobody says "I could care less" and means it. It just doesn't happen.

they do. my gf tells me stuff all the time that warrants "I could care less".

GF: I am looking forward so much to Xmas dinner w/ my parents and am so glad you are coming, Anon! Aren't you excited?!
Me (sincerely, yet implying a lack of enthusiasm nonetheless): I could be less excited.

Autism, not even once.

I always took it to function grammatically like a threat:
>I COULD care even LESS

Like, by saying it you're implying that you care very little.
>>
>>7479340
As a non-native english speaker
I have never seen someone use I could care less or irregardless. It is weird when I see people complaining about their use.
>>
>>7479349

It's like the phrase 'head over heels'. If you head is above your heels, then you are the right way up, and everything is okay. Obviously the phrase doesn't make sense when you think about it literally, but you know that's just the way some things work in the English language so take it easy, bro.

This has nothing to do with grammar, do you know what grammar is?
>>
>>7479349
fuck the haters, I agree with you OP, people shouldn't say it

Bothers me more when it's grown women. It's implied that teenage girls are annoying, but I expect a better grasp on inflection from an adult.

They do, unfortunately.

Watch the devolution of the English language as we deconstruct the proper phrase.

>How did this thing come about?
>How did this thing come?
>How did this come?
>How this come?
>How come?

I could care less. I am sorry to be the baron of bad news, but you seem buttered, so allow me to play doubles advocate here for a moment. In an age where false morals are a diamond dozen, true virtues are a blessing in the skies. We often put our false morality on a petal stool like a bunch of pre-Madonnas, but you all seem to be taking something very valuable for granite. So I ask of you to mustard up all the strength you can because it is a doggy dog world out there. Although there is some merit to what you are saying it seems like you have a huge ship on your shoulder. In your argument you seem to throw everything in but the kids Nsync, and even though you are having a feel day with this I am here to bring you back into reality, because it’s now like the pot calling the kettle cracked. I have a sick sense when it comes to these types of things. It is almost spooky, because I cannot turn a blonde eye to these glaring flaws in your rhetoric. I have zero taller ants when it comes to people spouting out hate in the name of moral righteousness. You just need to remember what comes around is all around, and when supply and command fails you will be the first to go.

Irregardless, make my words, when you get down to brass stacks it doesn't take rocket appliances to get two birds stoned at once. It's clear who makes the pants in this relationship, and sometimes you just have to swallow your prize and accept the facts, instead of making a half-harded effort. You might have to come to this conclusion through denial and error but I swear on my mother's mating name that when you put the petal to the medal you will pass with flying carpets like it’s a peach of cake.
