There's some book out there (sorry I don't remember which one), the plot of it is:
>Prince marries longtime girlfriend - University sweethearts or something
>Prince's new wife's sister is hot. Like crazy hot, bro
>Prince's brother sees this and is like, "yo she's fine but now I can't get with her because my bro is bangin' her sister and that shit's weird dawg."
>Sister keeps coming around. After all, she's new princess's sister. Duh.
>Prince's brother (also a Prince, btw), is always like trying to hide a raging boner whenever new Princess's sister is around.
>One day, Prince's brother is beatin' off thinking about the new Princess's sister and has a moment of clarity right as he's about to cum and he's like, "Wait a minute! I'm a Prince! We're into all that weird sex shit! And let's be honest, fuckin' your brother's wife's crazy hot sister isn't THAT weird. I mean...it's not like, Lolita, fuckin' weird.
>Game on.
>Live happily ever after.
Not sure what's it's called. Sorry.

You just described the plot of the cat in the hat
there are only two books about which white westerners who did not happen to be insane have said "this is the best book" and seriously meant it
The Bible
The Divine Comedy

my point is not that these are the best books. my point is that nobody who takes it seriously will ever answer the question "What is the best book?" except for those few who respond either "The Bible" or "The Divine Comedy". The reasons for the Bible are obvious. The Divine Comedy less so, but you can find any number of professed Danteists who are certain of the supremacy of his poem.
Nobody has managed to take any other book quite so seriously. You'll find people who admire Don Quixote; but none who will say confidently that it is the best book ever written. You may find any number of people who admire Hamlet, but ask them "is it the best book ever written?" and they will either say "no" or "I don't know."
I left out the Quran/etc. because I don't want to list a bunch of religious texts which are not essential to the western canon. The point is that, within the western canon, people do not make statements about "best books" unless they are talking about Dante or the Bible.

I didn't say it was a novel. Plays are typed, printed and bound. Even if we think plays are meant to be seen on a stage, we still call them "literature". All of us, except the troglodytes, have read Shakespeare's works in book form.
So you're just being a pedant, and you can fuck off
