I lean towards paperback too.

Paperback, books are for reading. I don't give a fuck about shit quality paper or binding and cracked spines, granted that the typeface doesn't look like it's just been printed out of a desktop computer or the covers aren't too appalling. I also dislike spending more than 10€-15€ on a book, and to go over that it must be a thousand pages or over, or a rather good piece of literature that I've been after or sure of being worth the expense.

Those books are excellent. But you need to read "Shada" by him to fully appreciate that story. When Douglas was writing for doctor who an episode never quite made it to air and has since been novelized and called "Shada" and it features a timelord at cambridge named "Professor chronotis"
