Suppose you're on a game show, and you're given the choice of three doors: Behind one door is Ulysses; behind the others, Gravity's Rainbow or Infinite Jest. You pick a door, say No. 1, and the host, who knows what's behind the doors, opens another door, say No. 3, which has Gravity's Rainbow. He then says to you, 'Do you want to pick door No. 2?' Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?
>>7421881
You also have to say why the host opens that particular door.
yes, swap to get ulysses
>>7421881
one of these things is not like the others. one of these things is utter shit.
>>7421887
I don't and I didn't. Trying to keep it to the original, fuckface.
>>7421894
'Round these parts, that could be any of them.

i think we all know who the bandana wearing stoop sitting pleb is.
I'll open whichever one gives me Infinite "GOAT" Jest
>>7421881
>lol what is monty hall problem guys
It is always in your advantage statistically to switch your choice.
>>7421896
The host could know what is behind the doors and still open one at random. Then it doesn't work.
>>7422170
>unironically trying to pick the goat
Doing it wrong.
>>7421894

Variable Change
Yes it is advantage to switch

How is it not?
>>7423883
How is it... or are you pretendin?
>>7424977
is it not the monty hall problem because all of the options are equallyokay
>>7424977
>are you pretendin
I'm not. Please explain the difference.
>>7422189
It's not the monty hall problem if there is no prize
>>7421892
Staying has a slightly higher risk of getting Endless Whimsy
>>7425116
Wouldn't that depend on why the host opened the GR door?
>>7425116
Why?
>>7425123
Well if we had a hundred doors and 98 of them had Boundless Joke, one of them had Gravity's Rainbow, and one had Ulysses, picking one would give you a 1/100 chance of getting Ulysses. Then when you're shown Gravity's Rainbow, you have a 1/99 chance of getting Ulysses by switching.
But it occurs to me that your chance of getting Fun Without End actually increases as well, from 98/100 to 98/99.

Did you reply to the right person?
>>7425134
Eternal Quip, Unlimited Caper, Everlasting Farce, Incalculable Jape...
>>7425113
I guess I was just assuming that the prize was Ulysses
>>7421881
I would rather have a goat desu. It would at least be able to keep me company.
