Supposedly, the Quran is supposed to be really poetic, beautiful and an arabic literary masterpiece. I don't see it.
Am I just stupid? Should I learn Arabic?

>can't see the literary quality of the Qur'an
>doesn't know Arabic
That's why.
You can start with listening to some recitations. I like Dosari. Then look for some papers on the Qur'an and tajweed if you want some scholarly input.
If you're really serious and interested, then yes, learn Arabic.

Stop reading shitty fanfic, m8.
>supposedly
three words
>supposed to be
yes opie
I don't know why you expect it to retain its poetic quality when translated into another language.
You do know all the syllables are completely changed in this process, right?

Yeah I realized that as soon as I clicked "post." I'm usually really critical of bad grammar and spelling too but I've been sleep deprived (and now apparently I overslept). Thanks for the tip, comrade.

Yes, but the poetic quality of a work isn't solely based on the way the words sound. Content matters and all I see so far is bland repetition.

You have to get past all the bits about committing violent attacks, after that it gets better.

the quran is basically the foundation of modern arabic
so yes, if you want to appreciate its literary and linguistic value, you would need to read it in arabic.
I find it to be beautiful and poetic in content even in translation, OP
Even the translations are beautiful. You have to understand, to become the "enemy" of the materialistic west, islam had to be so incredibly spiritual that most of its believers just don't know how to/can't live in peace both with allah and our world.
