What an odd phenomena the Narnia books are, where no kid actually enjoys them and no adult enjoys them but they imagine kids find them whimsical and charming so the books survive as obligation from generation to generation.

Hey man I enjoyed reading them as a kid.

It is because the books are promoted by Christians.

This - plenty of parents haven't even read them, they just go "Oh, that's a... good, wholesome book? Right?" and another set gets sold.

I enjoyed them both as a kid and as an adult.

>no kid actually enjoys them
I devoured every book between the 4th and 5th grade.

Magician's Nephew ftw

I haven't read them, but I did enjoy 'Screwtape letters' and 'the great divorce'
I've heard 'mere Christianity' is a good read too -- though saying that, it was recommended to me by Christian people...

The Narnia books are great though.
I reread them as an adult several years ago, before the movie was released. I was expecting them to be disappointing when out from under the cover of nostalgia but they held up really well.
Most of the hate I'm assuming is from rabid militant atheists who got molested or something.

I loved the fuck out of The Dawn Treader, you heathen
that cover in your pic and the others like it make me sad. Why do ugly covers exist?
