Ambient, Stoner/instrumental Rock or Classical. Just anything that doesn't have lyrics and is musically acceptable.

Depends on the book, desu. If it's something nice and slow, I'll listen to something soothing to reinforce the mood. Likewise with action-heavy books and so on.

Anything with words in -- or even just the human voice -- is a no go. I find it distracts me and pulls me easily out of the book.
