Whatever you do, don't listen to the dumbs that think Moncrieff is the absolute best. Get the Enright updated translation if you plan on reading the whole thing. If you're only reading Swann's Way, get the Davis translation.

This may be a pants-on-head regarded question but how difficult is Proust's French prose? My literacy in French is intermediate, I'd say. Could I handle it with a dictionary?
