I hate his books desu (1) senpai (2)

1 - 'To be honest', an acronym that fell out of favor in late 2015 after the t b h/desu switch instituted by 4chan moderation.
2 - Short for 'family', also fell out of favor after the f a m/senpai switch of late 2015 (see 1).

Wallace was not an 'autist,' unless the usage of the word around here is even dumber than I realize. He was intensely tuned in emotionally (and rather successful in parlaying that into encounters with female fans).

Autist, at least here, refers to anyone who's weird and/or socially inept, which DFW was in spades.
>>
>>7326084
>>7326098
These posts are strange to read consecutively.
>>
If you don't relate to DFW at some level, you aren't human to be honest.
>>
>>7326126
I'm an irony-loving high school dropout who can't read for more than a page straight without flipping on the TV. I've never read Wittgenstein and am so insincere in my everyday life that not even I know what I truly believe. The only thing I don't apply irony to is my love of cruise ships (a supposedly fun thing I do yearly) and hatred of tennis.
>>
Was DFW's entire persona an act to get people to think he was "oh so deep and emotional"? He seems to be apologetic about his narcissism but he could also be thinking "haha they bought it I'm so much smarter than them."

Was it all for the audience pussy?

this is akin to a young englishman thinking he could be the next shakespeare. having goals is great and all but that level of ego is crazy.

It's not so much that he loves irony. He sought some sort of horrible beauty in negativity.
It's like tragedy.

He's not a misanthrope either; just sardonic.

Dostoevsky

Having never read him, I discovered that my writing style was very similar to his. His prose is very at-home with me, and it's like I was him in my past life.

>>
>>7326923
is season 2 worth watching? I kind of got a bit bored 4 episodes in
>>
>>7326569
but in his post he clearly stated he has become aware of that, and grown to be a humbler more realistic person
>>
>>7326084
I like to think that if dfw read my novel in his last year he'd still be around.
>>
>>7326955
Yes! It's absolutely worth watching if only for the finale. People say season 2 has a dip in quality toward the middle, and it's true, but don't skip any episodes. If you MUST skip episodes, you'd better watch up until the killer is revealed, then watch the finale, then watch Fire Walk With Me. But please don't skip any episodes unless your health is affected.
