the story is ok. as someone who read the wheel of time, and it being my first and favorite fantasy series, game of thrones is a weird sort of way to tell a story. it's interesting to see the opposing ways the two authors attempt to world build and create conflict. I wildly prefer Jordan, but Martin is entertaining enough. He has a penchant for good characters - I especially like Petyr Baelish and Davos Seaworth.

Well one of the board members for this event spoke about it at length on reddit (lol) and what he said was, an i'm paraphrasing:
Emily has the best 8 day time - though the game can be completed on the 6th or 7th day, it's too up to rng and the run is less likely to meet it's expectation if they selected someone to do that run. Emily has the best day run (in part because she plays a wii port of the game which speeds dialogue and cut scenes apparently). Board members also selected runners and their game types to be shown based on whether it's ever been shown before, and whether their time in the optimization they play has been beaten before.

Concealer is a good stopgap. Salmon or light orange since it balances the blue of beard shadow.
Then get laser when you can. It's not that expensive and it's peace of mind. It's not permanent on the worst hair, around the mouth that is, but it works well even if you're in for a number of touchups after the initial sessions.
