I've never had anybody ask me outright but people get confused a lot. like:

>have to find group for project
>last person left who doesn't have a group
>a group that still needs one person approaches the professor
>professor asks if anybody doesn't have a group and I raise my hand
>professor: "oh, there’s a... person who doesn't have a group"

And sometimes when I checkout at the grocery store or pick up carryout people initially call me ma’am or get confused and stumble over trying not to use any pronouns.

I'm trans so its not quite my goal but it feels a whole lot better than being sir'ed without a 2nd thought. And I'm stuck in boymode right now so that makes it more satisfying that they get confused by my boymode. It wouldn't be fun if I was in girlmode though.
