If they even change last names at all it likely would be because they didn't like their old last name and took it as a chance to get a new one.

Gays almost always choose to hyphenate.
The bottom's surname is first, followed by the top's.
If they alternate sexual roles then they have to try to KO one another with sock-em-boppers while standing at the altar, the winner's surname comes second.
