It's fairly charming, but the way Mad writes the characters is SO over the top, like its meant for a younger audience (probably why she's done so well with cartoon tie in comics) and it creates a disconnect between the style and the more serious story lines. Like, I feel like a "haha everyone's coming on my date and its gonna be crazy!" and "we gotta make this guy be our friend!" doesn't fit with "oh no, my horrible abusive ex boyfriend is back in my life!"
Yuudi is the only character I find interesting at all, and it feels like I'm being dragged away from him whenever it goes back to the date plot. I don't hate the rest of the comic, but it's not really for me, you know?

Yeah, the most you could do (and have it be realistic) is have a society that considers sex/gender incidental when it comes to the rules of attraction so there are a lot of people in various points on the Kinsey scale.
