To be honest I've found that feeling like a failure is all down to you and your attitude. I used to feel bad about being gay until I got a boyfriend and all my family and friends became comfortable with it.

Now I feel like a failure because my brother earns more money than me.

You (we) need to accept that some people will have better easier lives than others and just because you aren't as perfect as someone else doesn't mean you failed. Your life is better than many people on this planet and you're also more successful than millions. Give yourself a break and just go with the flow.

You don't, but you shouldn't want to anyways.
Use that feeling of failure as a driving force to make yourself better in other areas of your life.
Struggle, challenge, and rise to struggle again.
