1. You're incredibly dumb and didn't realize you guys dated (unlikely)
2. He's a fucking idiot and invites someone on a first date to a christmas dinner with his family (a bit more likely considering he's lecturing philosophy and a lot of philosophers are also lunatics). having your man meet your family on the first date is also really awkward and should be a warning sign, like red flag tier.
3. he sees you as a good friend (also kinda unlikely; who invites friends to a christmas family dinner though, if they aren't super close, what doesn't seem to be the case here).
4. probably the worst and most exciting possibility: he told them, that you are his bf, so they are excited and he uses you as a cover up for something, e.g. his habit of killing and devouring his students.
I'd say go for it if you don't have any other plans (maybe he was just being nice because you seemed like you didn't have anything planned or anything), but don't see it as a date, but a thing friends do.
