This, basically. I just tell men I'm gay instead of bi if they ask despite finding women sexually attractive, as I'm not emotionally attracted to them at all.

Bisexuality is definitely real but since it's socially advantageous to be straight, so I would guess most "reasonable" bisexuals just stay in the closet and don't worry much about it while most openly bi people would be amoral sluts

This pretty much. As a gay male I have a problem dating bisexuals because a lot that I have met are closeted - meaning either they're gay and struggling with it or just whores who cheat on their girlfriends with anything.
In the case of a TRUE bisexual - I'd still be afraid to date one. If you truly are attracted to women just as much as men, why on earth would you choose to live a gay lifestyle? It would be so much easier to settle down with a chick and have a few kids and make society and your parents happy - I can't compete with that.

Same to if a sane bisexual breaks up with their same-sex partner, with the reasoning behind breaking up being that they don't feel emotion/attraction/etc to the person anymore, NOT because they're same-sex.

I always thought that this came from the fact that a bisexual person has a pretty big pool of options to choose from, and the chance that you'll break up with someone and later date someone of a different gender is 50%. So, odds are that if you date a guy and then date a girl, people will just think that you're taking the 'easy' route when in actuality you just found someone you like who happened to have a vagina.
