Being in a relationship requires effort from both parties to sustain it. Once you're not alone anymore you can't just do what you feel like when you do, you always have to consider the other person when you're making plans, always trying to ensure that they are happy with what's going on. It's a lot of good feelings and a lot of stress, because you are now responsible for another human's wellbeing on top of your own. Their needs are now your needs: their monetary, health, sexual, emotional, and personal needs are your needs. If they're having a bad day, it's your job to support them. If they don't have money, it's your job to help them. If they're sexually frustrated, it's your job to relieve them. Same goes for them for you, but still: you have to work twice as hard.
That said, the benefit is worth it. You get to see someone through to their best and help them achieve their goals, and you share your happiness.

I got lucky and found someone amazing who has a lot in common with me, but that doesn't mean we don't have our differences and sometimes have to talk for hours just to figure out what we want.
