I'm new to this myself having started straightening my hair only four months ago. After the shower, when my hair is still wet or damp, I use a hair dryer and comb it as straight as possible. It still looks curly and unkempt, so I use a Chi flat iron (it was $35 after coupons, lol). I flip my head upside down and twist from side to side as I straighten my hair, making sure it looks as natural as possible. Of course, the direction in which you dry and straighten your hair matters a lot in the final look, though it varies greatly from person to person. I'm still learning about this myself. The only thing I haven't mentioned at this point is to use a heat protection product of some sort before you fry your hair with high temperatures. When I first started flat ironing my hair, I would spend up to an hour trying to be as methodical as possible, pinning my hair into sections and straightening in layers, starting from the back and moving to the front. But fuck that shit. I just go crazy with a flat iron and make several passes over whatever hair doesn't look straight. Same results, but MUCH quicker.

Not really, no. If you shave down to the skin a lot you likely have some ingrowns. Let it grow a little the first time and try it. Use a bright light. Your face will be red afterward, but the swelling will go away after you sleep. I don't have to shave for 7-9 days after doing this, but ymmv based on how fast your beard grows.

the advice those anons gave you is very good, especially the bit about not putting too much thought into it. I have extremely long hair and I can get the whole head done in about ten minutes now. I just turn on some music and straighten away.
the only things that suck about ironing your hair are that :
1) you can easily iron it in such a way that it leaves a weird crease, basically like when you fail to iron a shirt, but the chance of this goes down over time as your technique improves
2) ambient humidity will unstraighten you in an extremely short amount of time. I live in florida and I basically can't go outside for more than a minute or two with straight hair or it turns back into curls. when I lived in colder climes with lower humidity my hair would stray straight for days.

Depends on how long the hair is. An epilator would obviously be faster, but it needs a little more growth for the little wires to snag the hairs. Tweezers will get shorter hairs but will take much longer to do.

Depends. There are epilators specifically designed for a face, but they almost always have women in mind not the beard a guy grows. If you don't get much facial hair because lucky genetics/youthfulness, you could possibly get away with one of those. Otherwise, if you get a normal amount of hair then those epilators would not be very useful.
