Me, i think that its beocme an umbrella term, but can become a derogatory one if used in a ceratin way, similar to how N***er can be an alternate word for friend as well as a derogatory term. As a bisexual i think that it isn't really a concern and should be treated as an umbrella insult unless you can tell that its being used in a derogatory manner.

I believe that probably 5-10% of them are actually asexual, and will remain so for their entire lives, while the rest is a melange of bandwagoners, edgy teenagers, the chemically imbalanced, people with depression, and simply people that just can't get laid and figured the label would spare them some grief.

I've also noticed a general increase in the number of people (at least around me) identifying as demisexual. Not quite sure how to feel about that.
