FACT: Modern Rock Island 1911's are higher quality than ww2 era 1911 pistols.

don't RIAs suffer from sub-par barrel lock-up?(among other things)
issued 1911s might have been built loose, but they didn't have that issue.
>>30666047
I've never heard of that issue before, can you tell me more, or link me to a source?
>>30666012
No rock island was ever used to hunt nazis
Dont really care either way, but it doesn't surprise me. Milspec is code word for "good enough without being too expensive to mass produce". Its stands to reason that civilian market models would be of a higher individual quality.

>No rock island was ever used to hunt nazis
They're made in the Philippines.
Du30 rules the Philippines.
It only takes one man with colossal balls.
>>30666012
Any modern Colt is better than both
>>30666012
I don't care. I'd take a war era national match over anything.
I don't intend to carry it, after all.
>>30666012
Wow really 2016 pistols are made better than something from 70 years ago
>gee billy how come your mom lets you suck two wieners?

>Milspec is code word for "good enough without being too expensive to mass produce".
That's why the military only buys Oracle ARs, right?
Right?
No, retard. "Milspec" is code for MIL-STD material and engineering requirements that a shameful number of *-type firearms fail to meet. Stop repeating dumb shit your dad says.

Except he's right, you stupid cumstain. GI issue is neither the best nor the worst; it's serviceable.1.9 million motherfucking 1911s were built for WWII. 1.9 mother-christfuckin-million. You think those were all made of hammer-forged steel by dwarves on anvils deep in the mines of Moria? No. They were made of metal good enough to last for the expected/desired service life of the weapon, and no more.
Get your head out of your fucking ass.

I wouldn't maybe say that, but they're done to similar mechanical specs.

Still not too late for that.

> "Milspec" is code for MIL-STD material and engineering requirements
And literally anything and everything can be called Milspec and it won't matter because almost everything that's called Milspec actually isn't.
Your mom's dragon dildo could be calles Milspec and you'd still defend the use of the definition.

They would just end in the girls dying in horrible ways. I want to take Anya home and do nice things.
>>30666012
I cannot disagree. Metal lurgy has come quite far since ww2. They didnt even know to heat treat steel then and most guns were made of iron with less carbone/wheat carbon added in.
>>30666012
Modern heat treating is better, but even modern castings cannot surpass the quality of forgings.

They're certainly more powerful if you get the right ones.

>>30666012
I would agree, only because I've heard old 1911s had a problem with the hammer catching on the skin when it was cocked.

You just said a pound got lighter. Thats not accumulating gravity, thats the exact opposite. Thats some David Wolfe level shit right there.
>>30666391
1911's weren't even fully heat treated until 1945, military 1911 production ended less than a year later.
1946 and later Colt production had heat treated slides.
>>30669282
during ww2 1911 production "heat treat" for 1911's was blasting with a propane torch and quickly quenching the part in oil.
>>30669300
You can see the "heat treat" in the finish of this late war A1
near the slide stop and the first 2-3 inches of the slide
