Looking for something simple and rugged. which one can take more abuse?
>>
>>30664701
mossberg 590a1 is as close to indestructible as you can get.
>>
I'd check out the Ithaca Model 37 as well.
>>
If you're going to abuse it I'd recommend the chinese knock off of the 870 called the H&R 1871. Pardner Pump. You can find them for less than $200 and they're pretty much the same shotgun. No drop in quality.

Can't go wrong with either.

The real differences are:
-The safety location
-The slide release location
-Mossberg 500s have plastic trigger guards (fixed with an aftermarket replacement)
-"Modern" 870s have gone down in quality. If you get an 870, try to get one that is ~6+ years old

They're both good and reliable, so go to a LGS and hold each and see what you like.

Avoid new Remington, they suck ass.

Mossberg has been consistent in quality, they're a great company. 500s are great, but like another poster said, the 590a1 can handle the most abuse.

If you're looking for cheap and robust, check out the Hawk 982. Norinco copy of a Remington 870, but much better than current production Remington.

New 500 will run you about $350, new 590a1 closer to $500 or more depending on what stock you get with it (get the Speedfeed), a new Hawk 982 will run you about $200 and is the best value of the bunch.

The Mossberg can take more abuse, it's designed with looser tolerances in made so it functions better dirty.

Ever heard of the "Mossberg rattle"? That's because it's action bars have some space to move in case the gun gets dirt in the action. If a Rem 870 gets dirt in the action it's action bars will seize an then snap because its got no play in it.

>Mosserg

Designed for free men on the land who might not get a bed at night and time for gun cleaning.

>Remington

Designed for statist enforcers who get pampered by stolen tax payer money and mall ninjas who will never fire a shot in anger.

590 is a good choice , very solid. Plastic trigger guard is something that would be better replaced. kit is $100 or so last I checked though

STOP SHILLING CHINK SHIT HE CAN BUY AN AMERICAN MADE MOSSBERG MAVERICK 88 FOR $200. WHY WOULD YOU BUY A GUN MADE BY THE SLAVES OF THE REDS WHEN YOU CAN SUPPORT AMERICAN INDUSTRY FOR THE SAME PRICE????
>>
>>30664863
The American gun industry can't do anything except ARs right. Why would I feed a bad industry? That's like telling someone who is doing a piss poor job at something that they're doing great.
>>
>>30664863
American made?
American assembled with Mexican parts.

Got my maverick 88 about a week ago. I like it a lot more than I thought I would. It feels really right somehow.

How do you guys feel about shotgun scabbards? Is this mall ninja shit or actually useful? My gun doesnt have a sling mount, and im pretty sure a sling would only get in the way of the pump anyhow.

wider CLEARANCE, you dingus
>>
>>30664863
The Maverick 88 is Mexican, you cartel supporting dipshit.

If it's cheap and reliable, why wouldn't I suggest it to a person on a budget? Guns are one the few things chinks do kind of right.
>>
>>30664830
The Remington's have the same tolerances and rattles. Top shelf/old Remington is hard to beat for endurance, it's just they really dropped the ball on the Express line. The Maverick 88 is better machined but the 870E's have very smooth actions.

>having the foregrip and a few parts for the trigger assembly made 50 miles across the border means a gun is Mexican Made

Get some dispersal before that autism turns violent lads
>a legitimate trade deal with Mexico is supporting the Marcos

Yeah we should just let our govt steal money from us and throw it at the Mexican govt, that will make the cartels go away, right?

Nigga what? Ithaca is hella simple and soo... much simpler to disassemble and reassemble than a Mossberg.
>>
>>30665275
Where can I get that close encounters patch?
>>
>>30665103
Are you claiming the Ithaca 37 isn't simple or reliable?
>>

weapons grade waifus dot com me boy
>>
>>30664701
What are you using it for? Innawoods? Home defence, nigger repellent?

If you want something cheap, simple and rugged, get a remington sbr100.
>>
>>30664828
My 982 has a lot of problems with extracting. Not sure if this is a common problem, but it's annoying enough to warrant a replacement.

fuck what anyone else thinks, if it is a useful item TO YOU, then get it and fuck everyone else. cowboys used them, and I'd be damned if people would expect me to have a rifle flopping everywhere when on an ATV, dirtbike, or horse. just use your brain about if its going to fall apart on you when you buy it.

I finger fucked a 500 the other day and noticed that the grip on the slide is super loose and wobbly, is this just a cosmetic thing?

You're hanging out in the wrong place, he's on another chan.
>>
>>30664874
Smith and Wesson, Mossberg, Springfield armory, Savage Arms, even Ruger is excellent

The top Americans companies make great guns, not just ARs
>>
>>30667433
Nova is the way to go. The pump is a way shorter stroke.

I have an H&R P3 and a Nova Tactical. The Nova is the more solid performer but the P3 has a heft to it that I love. The action is longer but it's smooth as butter and just sounds right. Also I paid $160 for it so I can beat it to shit and not care at all
>>
>>30667982
It's not cosmetic- that's how they are supposed to be.

Go to your local cabelas and pick up an old used 870 or 500. I got this for $125 bucks. Looks neat (imo) and is a great cheapo for HD. When you blast Jamal or Cleetus away for breaking into your house you won't be out $500+ dollars when the cops take your gun for the investigation. Alot of people under look this fact when choosing HD guns.
