I want to build a Lance/Spear with some old stuff. I got a short sword (approx 75cm the whole sword) and a rambo replica knife. What can be the best one? Fore the pole i was thinking 2 different options:
Short sword - long pole like 1.65 cm. For the rambo a short pole like the lenght of my arm.
Basically the short sword is long and impossible to hidden but good for throwing. The rambo can be dismounted and hidden. So basically help me to understan what is the best. Sorry for my poor english.
A spear is easy as fuck. All you need is a fucking stick and a pointy piece of something that won't break when being thrusted into human flesh.

but, kanon, what are the DIMENSIONS of your spear
>>30648361
8" long, 6.5" girth
>>30648368
How much stopping power is that equivalent to?
>>30648361
I made mine following the Dory.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dory_(spear)
I took a Wooster Sherlock 2'-4' extending painter's pole and screwed on a SOG Spirit. Stays in my trunk.
>>30648391
Roughly equivalent to stabbing a nigga from 5 feet away. Use your brain.
>>30647217
BTW, I'm a gun-loving jackass.
Might as well learn all weapons, from melee to ranged.
Because, why the fuck now?
One mind, any weapons, you fucking pussies. How would you feel if you know you could win in a gunfight but not a knife fight?
Learn how to use all types of weapons, you Goddamn pussies.
I like spears, thread don't die.
>>30648391
Depends, if the spear is just a point on a stick and you hit the attacker really hard, or they run into the spear really fast, it will probably impale them. If the spear had nuts on it then they'd slam into those right after the blade and you could probably stop them more than an arms-length away from you.

They say Miyamoto Musashi was an eccentric wierdo, sometimes a dick, friendly and approachable but weird af, possibly autistic...
I assume he went on a rant just like this when he wrote his book.
I like the idea of having a stick you can mount a bayonet or knife to
Op. Here. Thats what i created is a broom handle. An the rambo knife. Because is cheap disposable and can be hidden in a back pack.
>>30651361
A baton with tactical bayonet ahahaha

Huehuehuehue
>>30652503
Why carry a spear when you can stab people with your nipples

>General
Generals are to sweep and the repeat treads into a single thread. Unless there's a sudden outbreak of spear threads that need to be contained, then this is just a thread, not a general
>>30654760
>>30654780
Lance/spear thread then. Next time i will use the right terminology. Thanks for the advice sir.
>>30654834
I'm not the one talking about throwing swords and samefagging to compare myself to Miyamoto Musashi.
>>30652503
That handle is going to snap as soon as you hit a boar. 2/10
>>30649098
>fighting with knives
>wanting to get cut to shit
nty.
I'll win my knife fights like i win my gun fights.
With a gun.
>>30654907
Well maybe it can be surprising but is not me. Actually im tryng to get old junk useful insted just leave it to accumulate dust. Anyway you are free to belive whatever you like.
>>30654923
Kek. The use of this object is not for hunt boars.
>>30654655
Because Ban Assault Nipples after the first use.
>>30652503
Broom handle? Man that's weak, get some hard wood. That's going to break, and a spear is just a bo-staff with a blade on it, you'll probably want to keep smacking stuff with the stick part an option. That's not an option that's going to do anything besides break off dropping the blade and not doing anything harmful right now.
At least that knife has a guard on it it wont over penetrate things like boar spears and later era lances when they were still in fashion tend to have a guard on it so your stick doesn't go all the way down.
I would work on a better way of mounting it maybe drill a hole through both sides of the handle and get a metal pin to put through it.
>>30647217
They're great for fish, n cheap as fuck.
>>30655923
That looks so fucking fun.
>>30649097
>8 inches long
>stabbing from 5 feet away
>use your brain
>>30655883
Is made of buxus thats why i choose him. It was a really old broom. The main thing that meake me think is the total lengt. I was also thinking to add some chlotes at the end for stabilizing the flight. For the drilling you are absolute right! But how can i dismount the whole thing? I live in a very restrictive nation. Thats why i meed to hide the blade and the "baton". I will bring this thing in my B.O.B.
Can I play in this thread too?
Old school tactical lawn dart ftw!
>>30657337
Not a very practical defense weapon but we're all mall ninjas in here anyway so why not?
>>30657494
>Not practical.
Let me start fucking flinging those things at you after I rub em on my pet posion arrow frogs and see what you do aggressively afterwards.
>>30657494
>>30657935
um... you guys realize those are about two foot long each with about nine inches of penetrating barb right.
Poison is not necessary.
polespear because only other spear in my phone.
I'm thinking of a weapon that's nearly equal parts spearhead/blade and pole; about 5ft or 6ft long total.
Anyone know what this thing is called?
Kind of related, but does anyone here have any experience with a whip bow?
http://www.primitiveways.com/shingle_dart.html
>>30658223
Glaive, halberd and the glorious bill hook friend.
>>30658277
look up "the american boys handibook" there is pdf versions for free. It has a good section on whip bows. These slingdarts work on the same notch principal.
>>30648361
there are basically only three types of spear, here illustrated by rennaisance italians.
On the bottom right, the broadhead spear, short with a long and wide head.
then in the middle center, the "cuckoldo" spear for close range fighting.
Then on the bottom left, the "Compensated" spear that is incredibly long but has to have a tiny little head on it to compensate.
Throwing spears/javelins are also a thing.
There are ones that can be used as a thrusting spear too, but are heavier and larger.
There are ones that wouldn't make very good thrusting weapons because they are shorter and lighter.
And darts, really short javelins.
>>30660384
Well basically how can you call my mall ninja creation? Knifestickdart?
>>30657337
They are awsome. I want build it some.
>>30647217
Is the M48 Talon thing legit? Like I know it's some cold steel meme or whatever company, but I'm still curious. I saw a promotion on it with some guy in black tacticool gear holding it.
>>30661338
>cold steel
Nah, its Budk/United Cutlery shit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hZIFOW18zg
Well, if you want to make something very 'old school', check out sandcasting.
Bronze shit is tight. Aluminium-bronze alloy is really neat (though not exactly d'époque).
It's also a very fun and versatile craft (iron/steel casting is a bit harder, though).
