Can airfags fight?
Or are they about to get shreked? If they get overrun imagine their fat personnelists getting beaten too.
This will be the one time the Air Force gets to actual engage in a gunfight.
What aircraft are at the base and how many US airforce personal?
I had a quick look but I couldn't find a list of aircraft stationed there.
Implying this could stop anything
Those nukes belong to Islam now
>>30642961
They can and will.
HEEMening incoming.
Islam will possess those nukes and Airfags will get embarrassed on the international stage.
Jarhead here,
Much to my dismay, Air Force Security Forces are some of the most disciplined and well trained folks I've encountered. They get zero prestige because they're Air Force and they get terrible hand me down equipment from the Army because they're Air Force. I really enjoyed working alongside them in JBAB and sorely hope enemies continue to underestimate what they are capable of.
Good, USAF blows.
>>30643014
>What aircraft are at the base
Lots of KC-135s normally but there's often other stuff like A-10s, F-16s, F-15s, MQ-1/MQ-9 especially with the operations going on in Syria
Air Force security is actually really well disciplined and well trained.
Not to mention, if the roaches even look at that air base in a manner that displeases the US, they will feel the fucking hammer of god come down on their asses.
Can't they get any other air force personnel to pull security patrols? don't they all get firearms training at basic training?
It would make no sense for the Turks to try to take the base and ruin the trust Obama gave them last night by siding with the Government.
There were rumors that there were American tankers refueling planes without knowing which side they belonged to.
The base lock down just seems to be to make sure there's no coup elements there trying to enter/ escape or tamper with the nuclear weapons. Now that the coup has clearly failed (Unfortunately), people involved are trying to save their own asses and may try to use aircraft to flee.
>>30643053
When you manage to lift up the hammer of god it will be already too late.

They might as well be boulders for all the use that they could get out of them.

ISIS Predator strikes on NATO soil when?

>>30642961
There are also a bunch of German Tornados and about 250 Luftwaffe personnel at the base.
It is primarily shared by the USAF and TuAF though. And I doubt there is anything that can be done to stop Turkish forces moving on the base that is operated by the Turkish military
>>30643067
No, it won't be. The United States can be anywhere in the world delivering a metric fuck ton of rape within a few hours. They've had plenty of time to prepare for this.
>>30643065
Depends if Erdogan thinks the US was behind it.
After reading the article it seems that they just want to be sure that the US isn't caught up in the confusion. Other articles have stated that the coup leader was an air force general and with the lock down in place people might assume American war planes are actually Turkish rebel ones.
>>30643073
Fellow Russianbro, here. This is exciting.

Basic Training is intended to ensure everyone knows ranks, how to March, how to make a formation, how to piss without getting it on your hands, so on. The follow on schools are where you'll get more in depth knowledge about your job. Some Air Force personnel only ever get the 1 week of warrior skills and rarely if ever touch a rifle again. The security forces dudes get hazed with ruck marches and combat training and no one ever hears about it. Pretty rad.
>>30643077
Noo, no. The nearest carrier group is in Persian Gulf.
And you can send MEU against afghan peasants.
>>30643072
>Talking about SecFo. Posts SERE Specialist.
>>30643079
My opinion is starting to become that Erdogan was behind it.
He knows people in the military were against him and he started the coup against himself so that he could crush it and be seen as a hero by his supporters. As soon as things kicked off, Mosques started blaring pro-Erdogan propaganda from their speakers, making calls to prayer, etc. He urged his supporters to defy the mlitary's curfew and martial law, and the military did very little to stop them.
Now a bunch of officers and judges that were probably not even involved have been arrested. the whole thing was an entrapment and justification for military purges and more presidential power.
>>30643092
Sure.
They could design a new nuclear weapon to use them in. That would take year or more.
Or they could make a dirty bomb.
>>30643068
Replacing the firing circuit can't be too difficult a job.

>>30643132
>Replacing the firing circuit can't be too difficult a job.
It is. Unless they can get it to PANTEX or LANL, trying to do that will render the weapon inoperable.
>I always imagine PALs as a system that slows down unauthorised users rather than stops them, sort of like a safe and a thief.
The systems that prevent unauthorized use are pretty foolproof.

There was a pro-Erdogan guy on the BBC last night who was practically reading the playbook for how last night's events turned out, before they happened.
He was identifying this specific cleric who is in the US before there was any official statement from Erdogan or even any clear idea of who the military units participating in the coup were, and said (with complete confidence) that Erdogan would be flying in that very night to rally his supporters
If they really feel there is a threat to the nukes. They'll load them up and fly them out. The Turks won't be able to stop them either. Because the US military will scramble a ton of air cover.
>>30643040
(you)
Theoretically if Turkish military backed by armor starts trying to take the base, what can the USA get to there within 24hr?
Does the airforce keep enough weapons to hold out against another military? Or do they just have basic anti infantry weapons?
>>30642961
Isn't that the base where the nuke warheads are kept?
>>30643173
That in unless the "nukes" there aren't just inert fakes meant to scare Ivan & Co from doing something stupid
Why do we even have nukes stored in Turkey in the first place?
>>30643180
Maybe the base would be lost, but Turkey would be crushed in a matter of days
And they could always pull that "on my position" shit with their tactical nukes
>>30643207
Because NATO & Ivan dickwaving contest
>>30643190
they'll still have to fly them out, to maintain the illusion.
>>30643180
with mid air refueling. the US military could have Predators and manned strike fighters there in an hour.
173rd Airborne Brigade is over in Italy. They could be there in a day.
Turkey moving on the base would be bad business. As that would probably get them kicked out of NATO and sanctioned. Not to mention the ass pounding they would receive as we rescue our military forces in country.
Supposedly the power to the base has already been cut.
>>30643040
t. lying airfag
>>30643147
>The systems that prevent unauthorized use are pretty foolproof.
Unless what has been leaked about nuclear weapons design is completely wrong I can't see how it can be "pretty foolproof".
Once you're past all the equipment that recognises the cryptographic arming signals from an aircraft, all you have is a large pulse capacitor, a set of fancy blasting caps, a large solid state or vacuum tube switch to discharge the capacitor through the blasting caps, and an electronic gas valve that allows pressurised tritium to be injected into the primary.
Even if the switch is somehow unseperably integrated into the cryptographic arming unit it would still be easy to replace that and come up with a functional weapon. The blasting caps need to detonate all at once, and the logic of injecting (relatively) low pressure gas into a highly pressured primary core as it's being compressed suggests that tritium injection happens before that. This wouldn't be a difficult task, only that it would take time.
The only thing I would be worried about is some sort of fail-deadly boobytrap on the weapon going off (non-nuclear that is) as you dismantle it.
>>30643207
Same reason as Belgium and Germany and...... Greece? Back in the Cold War days, it made the host nations carry some skin in the game of nuclear deterrence/tactical nuclear use in war. Can't go crying to momma US and ask them to B61 a Soviet bridgehead across the Weser and then afterwards say "Wow, we had nothing to do with that..."
>>30642961
From the reports one KC-135 operating from Incirlik was used to refuel coup F-16s so Turks are probably putting the base on lock down until hostile elements are routed out.

>>30642961
Maybe Erdogan is trying to hold the nukes as leverage in exchange for Gulen's extradition?
How would the US respond to a demand like that? Basically Erdogan holding a gun to the Middle-East (and beyond)'s head and making hostage demands?
>>30643221
>Once you're past all the equipment that recognises the cryptographic arming signals from an aircraft
Gaining access to these systems will render the bomb inoperable. Removing the systems that recognize the unique signal from the PAL will render the bomb inoperable.
>all you have is a large pulse capacitor, a set of fancy blasting caps, a large solid state or vacuum tube switch to discharge the capacitor through the blasting caps, and an electronic gas valve that allows pressurised tritium to be injected into the primary.
In the B61, the detonation sequence is very specific and timed due to the shape of the primary and the need to initiate the secondary. this sequence can not be hotwired and attempting to access the firing system will render the bomb inoperable.
Let's for arguments sake say that Turkey goes full retard and takes the base by force. What would the US/Nato do?
>>30643112
Mother was comissioned in the AF, spent six years in, never fired a live round. She got like a one hour crash course on how an M9 worked, and then basically got told to hide behind security force guys if anything bad actually happened. So 6 years in, she touched an M9 for less than an hour and never shot it.
>>30643264

>>30643264
I'd imagine they'd make an ultimatum for Turkish forces to pull out of the airbase and if they didn't move some of the troops the US has in Europe to take the airbase back.
I'm interested in how Putin would react, actually. What does he dislike more; America or Turkey?

>>30643260
All accurate. These bombs would never be used as B61's without our consent. However, they could be ripped apart and re-built with a new firing mechanism. If this was done, I doubt they would remain fusion weapons, but would become fission weapons for simplicity. Our thermonuclear cores have really complex geometry and are not something you could just modify a bit and make work.
And you'd probably need quite a while to make this all happen.
>>30643281

I'm sure there is a carrier battle group closer. Also any army combatants that were transiting from incirlik can be armed up to reinforce the security police stationed there and delay an attack. They could likely scramble any fighters from an alert cell to provide a combat air patrol. Keep in mind they had at least 12 hours to prepare for this as shit was going down last night.

>>30643040
Armyfag here.
I've worked with SecFor types on numerous occasions because of the regions in which I've deployed.
Four out of the five elements I worked with were so-so with occasional moments of brilliance, usually brought about because there's one or two E5 types in that SecFor element that 'get it' and give a shit enough to maintain military standards. The rest are whining females that bitch about everything and fall asleep on guard duty.
The fifth element I worked with was mostly male and they were surprisingly squared the fuck away. They were also an element that was specifically organized to guard and escort nuclear weapons. Many of them had spent time stationed in Turkey as a result.
So yes, SecFor is usually garbage. But when they guard nukes, they don't seem to accept garbage.
Of course this is just my anecdotal experience in having to liaise with them on a few occasions, which is hardly an all-inclusive understanding of SecFor.
On that note, the only time I got a speeding ticket on a goddamn fob was from a female Air Force MP. E5 type. Fuck that whore
>>30644486
Democracy and Islam have never worked.
>>30644486
Erdogan and Obama are one of the same.
How does the Incirlik base even work?
Americans and Turks both share the facilities and don't have to answer to each other whenever they want to use the airstrip, right? Or is it somehow a US-only base?
>>30642961

>Takes off, lands at the base they're to be taken off at
>Plane sits on the runway overnight with live warheads, no armed guards watching it or anything
>HABBENING
This is why. They got their shit pushed in by the military community for it, the top Air Force brass got gutted and thrown out despite having nothing to do with it and now everyone that has anything to do with nukes is held to the highest standard possible with constant, CONSTANT evaluations.
>>30644569
Armyfag as well.
I've had about the same experiences with airmen of all types. Some of them are highly motivated professionals who take not only their job seriously but their secondary role as a warrior as well.
Others are shit.
Like every branch.
What I love is bumping into AFSOC guys.
I bumped into AFSOC guys in the midle of a US desert once, they were training with some birds in the air. Those guys were so cool.
I also think that the writing of speeding tickets in an operational environment should be done away with.
>>30644644

>war is declared
>every single country from Greece to Poland declares war on Turkey because they can

>Kurdistan becomes a thing
I think it could be fun.
>>30644628
There is a US/NATO zone and a Turk zone. They share the runway and the US has an exclusive area to keep their nukes. The USAF guys there are likely better trained and equipped than the Turks. As little the USAF takes ground defense seriously, the Turks are less professional.
>>30644664
it wasn't Security Forces pulling a nuclear weapon from storage and arming it on an aircraft, that's it's own career doing that stuff. They guard the nukes, not issue them out or load them on airplanes. That would likely be missile munitions. It's also the fault of the aircrew not knowing the weight difference between a training weapon and live ordinance.

>>30644700

>Substandard
Because they're not trained for the same things as 18D. They're taught purely how to provide trauma care and maintain their ability to insert into hostile areas as a three-man team to render it.
Hell, SO Med Sergeants would probably call them if an injury was bad enough. Not because they're oh so much better at treating the person, but because they can get them to a hospital while administering primary care.
>>30644758
Removing a leader that is trampling the nation's constitution and assisting ISIS, and replacing him with a temporary military rule until new elections are established like in the past.
Sounds good to me.
Better than allowing Erdogan to give himself more power and implement more restrictions on criticizing him, which is the only logical path this will all take.
Nothing new for Obama though; taking the side of Islamic "Democracy" over secular governments that do not play favorites and hold stability in their nations (Like Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc.).
A majority of people want to vote for Islamist policies and leaders that restrict every freedom and punish those that disagree with their viewpoint? Well better let them vote away democracy because we need to uphold democracy.
So Turkey is demanding we give him a cleric who is opposed to him who is living in Pennsylvania that he is blaming for the whole thing, saying that if we don't it's a hostile action. He is also trying to cut off a base in possession of nukes.

ok? Expect there is no way for anyone to deliberately or accidentally set off those nukes
Even if they fell off the plane, nothing would have happened
It travelled from airforce base to airforce base
The lesson here isn't that we need to have ridiculous security around nukes
The lesson is that they need to modernize their korean war era equipment
And really this incident was more than likely a staged incident, to provide a justification for a high level purge of the air force.
>>30644262
>>30643338
If they can get their hands on the bombs, disabled or not, then there's nothing that would prevent them from cannibalizing the materials from them. Whether the safety protocol calls to destroy the electronics or controlledly blow the bombs without causing actual nuclear explosion, the tech needed to harvest the materials for a new functioning weapon is just hammer and chisel-tier or a bucket and a geiger counter. After that, the chunks can just be melted into pairs of subcritical lumps, which in turn can be assembled into simple gun type fission devices.
Anyone who didn't sleep during their high school physics lessons would know this, and would be able to do the needed basic level calculations to get the nuclear physics side of a bomb working
>>30642975

Seriously tho senpai, the quickest way to show you're new to /k/ is to think Opp is just another tripfag.
Why would USA not have tier 1 assets on a turkish base that houses nukes?
Do you think it's just chair force people who can't fight? If so the USA is utterly retarded
I'd hope they base delta / rangers etc in any base with nukes.
>Turkey
>Invading a NATO airbase
For one, the chair force wouldn't have to fight because there are already NATO soldiers there already.
For two, There is no fucking way Turkey is going to attack a US airbase. It's pure speculation.
Turkey just got done axing all of their military's top generals, and people seriously think they're going to declare war on NATO right now at this moment? No. Ergogan isn't that fucking stupid. Even if the US itself was the one that prodded the coup, he has to know his military and his police force are far too weak at this point to defend his country.
Sending civvies into the streets with their cell phones only works if the opposing force isn't intent on killing you personally. AF security could probably hold ~6 hours if the roaches tried only an infantry assault. ~2 if they used vehicles, since they probably have extremely limited AT capabilities.
More than likely they'd get the order to lock everything, bar every door and burn or destroy anything remotely useful while not giving Turks any reason to shoot them. By the time those idiots are even halfway through trying to rip the nukes out of the ground, there'll be US forces on the ground to actually posture and wave their dicks around now that they outnumber them.

>Is just outright declaring it to be our fault
Hope he enjoys Russia's cock and the ensuing shitstorm when Pooter demands they stop supporting ISIS.
>>30647029
That is under a NO-FLY ZONE.
>>30647029
The Turkish government forced all US planes to land and stay grounded, enacting a No-Fly zone over the whole area. This would mean that order was defied by the US.
>>30647051
IF they are US F-16's.
It could be Erdogan Loyalist F-16's, or could be one of the Coup F-16's that slipped away
>>30647079
Or it's just more lies from a Twitter already caught lying
>>30647090
Or, they are just reporting what other accounts have reported.... Like DWS usually does
the base itself declared that there is no happening
>>30643123
No, I'm no fan of Erdogan, but suggesting he staged the coup was obsurd. You are probably going to see more than a few officers tried for life on the murder of Turkish citizen. If he really wanted an inside job he would have had an officer do what was done in 1997, maybe with the addition of placing him under arrest just so that he could have a large counter protest and then be released.
>>30647110
Dunno how much I believe that atm.
Could be to keep it quite while they figure what that fuck is going on.
>>30647064
That guy isn't Security Forces as he has no badge. Is that you?
Did any else's keyboard and mouse just freeze up?
>>30643796
This. Considering the nukes I imagine we started sending troops that direction as soon as the coup started.
>>30646424
It never even occurred to me to look at Reserve Airforce units. Thanks!
>all my evals (NCOERs) are good
>>30647039
Valkyrie is by far the worst lurk
>>30647602
you misunderstand. a valkyrie + pulse combo can remove the need for a lurk because they can gather all the necessary information that the lurk usually gets. A lurk extends the map control of the defending team
>>30643180
Send every available force in the region along with any NATO members not wanting nukes to get fucked with.
>>30647678
Every game I played they never stick to the team and just run off
>>30642975
>hey we need to extend this concrete out a bit
>fuck it let's just use asphalt who cares its turkey its all shitty anyway
>>30643040
Yeah don't they get a lot of counter-terrorist training?
>>30645686
They're pretty good buddies.
>>30648097

>>30645773
>You have to really, really want to be one to become one, and not just be driven, but be good at your job as well.

>>30648130
>white male
Dude its 2016, there are female fighter pilots, blacks and hispanic ones too...all working for the US. But its one job they dont lower the standard for (multi-million or billion dollar airplanes and what not) so if you dont have a degree to get into officer school, which passing gets you into flight school, which both have PT, HT/WT and vision standards. If you cant meet the standards or pass the schools, you dont fly. Period. White males are the majority of people who meet that standard, so either step up your educatuion and PT or shut the fuck up.
>>30648130
Holy shit you're either super stupid or a troll.
Come on, women have to sign up for the draft now. Shut your idiot opening unless you're gonna suck a colored dick.
Signed,
The colored dick

Aviano has the Triple Nickel and enough nukes to wipe every major city in Turkey off the map. I don't think even Erdogan has the balls to do something like that.
>>30644118
The Turkish military has done this since Ataturk. They've been the bastion between radical Islam, Communism, and the inverse abuses (oversecularism, laissez faire governance.) 6 coups so far, only one failed, and now our strongest (and only worthy) Muslim ally in the world falls to radical Islam.
