First time posting, never had any experience with guns (only held a revolver once and a shotgun another time) never shot a gun before but soon I'll be getting the chance to shoot an AK. Can /k/ prepare me for the experience?
Remember the following rules.
Don't point the gun at anything you don't want dead.
Keep your finger off of the trigger until you intend to fire
Treat the gun as if it's loaded and the safety is off, at all times
Pay attention to the hot and cold range system, and any other rules.

Check videos on AK 47 variants. Read manuals, that shit. Don't have to but it doesn't hurt.

Hot means that range is firing and no one who wants to live to a long ripe age should go down range.
Cold means that no one fires, guns are unloaded, and not aiming down range generally (latter not necessary but better safe than sorry). Generally cold is for retrieving, setting up, putting back up, etc. targets or something goes wrong.

When you set the magazine, make sure to insert it so that the protrusion on the front end of the magazine is seated into the magazine well first, then rock the magazine to the rear so that it catches on the release.
