China has few friends and while Russia has been warming up to Beijing its other Asian partners such as India and Vietnam are very much not Sino friendly. In a conflict over the SCS Russia would run the risk of losing those partners if they were too involved.

Now, i firmly believe that if a US city was hit, or hell even guam, that the US would cry havoc.

It's extra funny because the LRAShM fired from F-35s, F/A-18s, or missile truck bombers out our many western-Pacific forward bases is pretty much a guaranteed kill on anything smaller than a cruiser.
