Yeah but think about it, the japs didnt really have much by way of anti-tank weapons and they certainly didn't have any tanks a sherman couldn't easily go toe-to-toe with. Sure the climate sucks but its better than the guaranteed shit fest that would result in running into German armor or infantry for that matter.
