I'm bretty sure that's a 5.45, the sparks in the one video are indicative of solid core ammo (or shot), I'm not sure if you can get 7.62 AP but 5.45 is AP by design so I'd think it had a steel core

They work, both loads are roughly comparable to each other.
The only reason you hear about 5.56mm performing poorly is that the military insists on the M855 loading for infantry rifles and carbines, for rifles it's passable, but out of carbines it's just pitiful.
