I'm giving you a 6/10 because you neglected to capitalize the start of your sentence, failed to end the sentence with a period, and didn't use a comma to separate your two fragments. You did a phenomenal job pretending to be as stupid as you actually are. Oooh that is meta.

>>30565828
My only gripe with them is that they cause tons of new AR owners to have stainless barrels and fixed front sights. Avoid their PTAC line. Everything else is good to go.

Also, can anyone recommend any books or sources of knowledge on reloading? 80¢ a round for factory 300 blackout is a bit out of my price range.

Just from what I've picked up I will need
-A press and the dies for it
-A mold and lead melter thing (for molding boolits)
-A scale
-A case trimmer (for renecking 223 casings
-Maybe a crimper, after I press in the boolits?

Thanks guys. It's the 9" and I've already got the Shockwave Blade coming in the mail. Went with a Spikes Tactical lower (spider roll-mark). All the gun stores near me had either Spikes or lowers from companies I've never heard of so I went with a safe bet.

Pretty cool man.
How do you use a helmet if you're also using over the ear electronic ear protection?

I found a spooky mine. It was pretty hot today but I swear standing right in front of it felt like being in front of an AC unit. Cold air was literally blowing out. It was very cool.

>TFW got so much AR shit in the mail that I am forgetting what is where.

Got a text from my dad saying "Hey you got a package here" and I WTFed immediately. Forgot I had my vice block sent to our shop so it would be there and ready for me.
>>
>>30566415
Idk I'm not that familiar with helmets I think I'll try rearranging the pads first, I really want a gunfighter cut with rails (you usually mount ear pro to the rails)
>>
>>30566389
Any time man, the helmet is drilled for the shroud, I just don't have the nut and bolt for mounting so I included the ratchet mount.

>>30566405
You can find a bare bones one for about 100 but it's going to have used pads, used chin strap.

>>30566415
By biting the pillow and dealing with the discomfort. Re arranging the pads also helps.

>>30566356
Get a press, dies (avoid the lee .300blk dies, they're out of spec), digital scale, and a powder dropper.

Avoid casting your own until you have some reloading experience under you. Leatherhead, Palmetto Projectiles, Missouri Bullet Co, and a few others sell cast/coated bullets (cheaply) that are appropriate for .300blk and are suppressor friendly.

Hodgdon has a fair amount of load data on their website. I like H110 and IMR 4227 for versatility but there's a large amount of powders that work. AA1680 is supposed to be the quietest for subs but is finicky on cycling and rare/expensive.

I've read about casting bullets for supersonic speeds and the gas checks they need. I was gonna hold off on casting for a while, it's just something I wanna eventually do, along with coating them.

I've shot about 8 factory subs through my gun and it will eject, but not feed a new one. I'll let it break in on supers and then work on subs, I won't try casting until it can feed subs without a suppressor and I've reloaded for a while.

Thanks for the advice.

For jacketed and plated bullets, yes.

For cast and cast/coated bullets you'll also need an flaring (sometimes called belling) die. Both Lee and Lyman make a universal, and they're dirt cheap. I think I paid $9 for my Lee universal.

While it isn't required, a factory crimp die can help with cast bullets. It's more important with die sets that do taper crimps, I dont remember what the RCBS set does. A fairly significant crimp can help with consistent pressure as the bullet releases from the case, which in turn can help port pressures (reliability, esp. with carbine gas) and minimize extreme spread/standard deviation (better accuracy).

Nothing is wrong with spray paint. It actually looks kinda good. I'm just astounded at the level of cognitive dissonance you're displaying by camouflage spray painting the frame when you didn't even take the time to pilot drill.

Do you own drill bits? Have you worked with wood before?

>>30566757
Now that you mention it I'm actually seriously considering the benefits of having a large "A" in the sight picture. The red dot amounts to an especially large "peep" aperture and if you're returning fire fast maybe you can line up the "A" almost like irons? Because the setup is so large it could be done very quickly.
>>
>>30566742
Commercial cast is a very good option and not really any more difficult than jacketed. I shoot a lot of the Palmetto 203gr bullets. They are definitely the way to go for reloading subs.

For supers, I'd recommend 110gr Nosler varmageddons. Decently cheap, devastating and high quality. At 300blk speeds it acts like a softpoint and expands while holding together.
>>
>>30566836

What is the reason for this spent casing not coming out before the bolt wants to throw one in? Is that called a short stroke? Anyone know the technical term? Easy fix? Buffer weight? Extractor Spring issue?
It doesn't happen every single time, it's quite random actually.

I pull the trigger, the gun goes bang. Then a spent casing is usually turned backwards as if it were to come out of the upper reciever. But then the bolt has already come back up before it finds its way out and wants to put a new live round in.

If you can pay attention to detail and spend the time / effort / money than there is no reason to reload.

Rifle ammo is generally harder than pistol ammo, so if you're really worried get a Dillon square deal and make pistol stuff first.

I don't do rifle ammo (yet) because it's more labor intensive than its currently worth for me

If you're worried about cost, a single stage press can be had for relatively low cost and dyes aren't too expensive, but you need to get projectiles, brass, primers, powders, case prep tools, calipers, scales etc etc

It can be very rewarding.

>>30568170

>>
>>30568218
Any low profile will work.

How about a BCM?

You could also just build the rifle from the ground up and save a little.

That rail style is made by several people. Troy is probably on the expensive end.
>>
>>30568232
Alright, good to know. I'm thinking about building one, but I also have a Ruger 556 that treats me well enough so I'm kind of torn.
>>
>>30568291
If I'm being honest I'd avoid buying from Troy. Not because it's bad stuff but because of their hiring practices. But like I said before, that style of rail is extremely common
>>
>>30568321
Fair enough, I'll keep that in mind. I was looking at Aero, but a lot of their shit is sold out.

>>
>>30566199
If anyone is up,

I was looking at getting a LMT 16" but its a M4 Carbine gas system.

Is 16" carbine profile bad? I've heard it causes excess wear on the bolt.
>>
>>30568640
it's fine
midlength is a tad smoother shooting
>>
>>30568640
The damage done by carbine gas systems is very exaggerated.

You may have some parts wear at 35k rounds vs 45k.

The real negative impact is felt recoil and aesthetics
>>
>>30568640
I don't think it's bad, it may accelerate wear to a small degree, but the excessive gas basically guarantees that it will feed anything. I think the biggest issue is mostly aesthetics.

If you have the cash to put a Geiselle or CMT trigger in every AR you own, do it.

If you are only going to have 1 AR, splurge and get a nice trigger. Outside of barrel, BCG, and the Optic, the trigger is one of the most important things you can have in your rifle.

Be warned, once you get one though, you are going to want to put one is all your ARs

Thanks!

New to reloading so I have some questions:

What do you mean when you say loaded long?

What happens if I have a bullet without load data for that exact bullet? Copy data from a similar bullet?
>>
>>30569800
don't argue, he's linking an article that talks about barrel wear when he was personally complaining about the casing "sparking" when ejecting.
>>
>>30569804
Loaded long means you dont seat the bullet to what would normally be considered right. Since the MBC is a relatively short flatpoint it will get hung up on stuff if you seat it all the way to the front lube groove. You'll have to play with your oal to find what works in yours.

If you cant find load data for a specific bullet, find load data for a different bullet of the same or slightly heavier weight and start 5-10% below the listed starting load. Not all bullets are created equal, and a safe load for, say, the 220 SMK may not be safe for a 220 Custom Comp or Matchburner.

Going shorter than book data increases pressure, and the lower your case capacity the more dangerous that is (this is why setback rounds are bad). Going longer is safe but can effect accuracy (both positively and negatively.

For those bullets I'd find load data for a 150gr jacketed flatpoint. Hornady/hodgdon I think have data.
