The AR10 had quite a few problems. Even later Portuguese and Sudanese contract models, small parts breakages were extremely common and the lower receiver was extremely thin and not very durable. Forearms and buttstocks cracking and breaking under the stress of recoil was common.
History has been quite kind to the AR10 and this probably wont change because there are so few left to examine.
