Need a reason not to hunt bears with a 2 gauge slug. Wild life authority says I shouldn't.

Because a slug is just going to wound it and make it suffer needlessly faggot. Get a real gun (read large caliber with accurate sight system) and put the bear down the proper way.

Show some goddamned respect you blockhead. The bear is giving up it's existence for you. The least you can do is give it the meager honor of having a swift death. Hunting should not be sadistic. Fuck, the native Americans figured that shit out when they were still hunting using sticks, animal tendons, and rock chips. Honor your adversary.
>inb4 tree hugging pinko
I never said don't hunt I just said don't shoot to wound, which is exactly what a slug would do.
>>
>>30556582

What fucking kind of bear are you hunting that can take a 2 gauge slug and only be "wounded"?

The basic bitch nugget hasn't been worthwhile for a long time, they got popular and then they got overpriced and it didn't help that tons of milsurp in general dried up after Sandy Hook. Instead of spending $200 on a basic nugget you may as well step up to an M39 for $350, sometimes less if you're willing to accept an ugly one. However, once you get to that price point you could also just get a new production gun with a basic scope that'll perform similarly and probably have a better trigger.

Mosin's aren't as worth it as they used to be. If you can find one under $200 or preferably $150, then it's a fun rifle. Otherwise, you can find starter ARs for around $500. You can also find decent bolt actions for around $300, but I don't know which ones.

Worth it? eh, depends. If you ever manage to find a cheap crate of ammo (less than 200 bux for 880 rounds) and a gun for under 200, I'd say get one.

There's something magical about being able to punch through half an inch of steel plate on the cheap.

Why not go with a Mini14 and not have to worry about muh salty features? The post-2005 ones are pretty nice and AFAIK certain models are pretty much California-proof. Ruger's Mini series rifles are a little overpriced and have proprietary magazines, but they might be your best option for an unfucked sporting rifle.

I'm being serious when I tell you to avoid the older models, they truly do suck. Never buy a Mini14 with a serial number that doesn't have the 58X prefix, as in 580-00001, 581-48753, etc.

Depends on if you're talking about a 14lbs baby or a 14lbs chunk of lead. That'd be roughly 2 of these ingots, which doesn't seem unreasonable as far as volume is concerned.

Punt guns were usually custom-designed and so varied widely, but could have bore diameters exceeding 2 inches (51 mm) and fire over a pound (≈ 0.45 kg) of shot at a time.[1] A single shot could kill over 50 Waterfowl resting on the water's surface. They were too big to hold and the recoil so large that they were mounted directly on the punts used for hunting, hence their name. Hunters would maneuver their punts quietly into line and range of the flock using poles or oars to avoid startling them. Generally the gun was fixed to the punt; thus the hunter would maneuver the entire boat in order to aim the gun. The guns were sufficiently powerful, and the punts themselves sufficiently small, that firing the gun often propelled the punt backwards several inches or more. To improve efficiency, hunters could work in fleets of up to around ten punts.
