The AR-15 because of the media claiming it can take down airplanes.

AK
It's a piece of shit
>>
scar

it's only marginally better than other battle rifles but it's still the best so everyone buys it
>>
1911, easily.
cant believe the amount of money retards blow on those shitty ass guns.
>>
>>30553468
The AR-15. It's probably the only gun most people in the US knows by name (MAYBE the Kalashnikov and MAYBE the M16), so they think it was used in every terror attack ever and also was used to kill Trayvon.

Three line rifle

The 1911 and the Garand take the cake. Completely mediocre firearms with massive cult followings due to 10/10 wartime propaganda. (To be fair, though, the Garand would have been a damn good rifle if the Army Ordinance Board hadn't taken a shit on it.)

The quality aspect of German Mausers. They're nice and all, but people act like they're at the level of surgical implements and they just aren't.

The nugget

Surplus ammo is gone. Prices going up.

But goddamn do I miss it.

This, desu - as a core platform it has no real advantages over a Makarov, and Gucci-ing either one of them up is pretty silly.

1911s for sure
>went shooting with a few friends ex.
>dude spent $2,000 on a 1911
>says it's the best gun ever
>I fire a few rounds with it
>feels like every other 1911
>Dude shoots my Sp-01
>shoots other friend's P229
>immediately regrets his 2K 1911 decision
>has a confused look on his face the rest of the day
>>
>>30553505
an exploding AK seems way more safe than an exploding AR
>>
>>30553505
You do know WHY that gun failed, right?

hint; it's something to do with the ammunition
>>
1911 aboslutely. Obsolete piece of crap. Literally any other .45 is better.

AR15, because it has become into Linux.

does that mean other Mausers are better?
>>
>>30553553
SCAR is good but overpriced, that's all you can really say about it.
>>
>>30553573
It's not a bad gun, it's just always overpriced.

It would be a good $300 .22lr gun, but most models are over $600 and for that money get a good long gun, a sturdy 22 handgun or a glock 19 for self defense

I'm just shocked that it's over a hundred year old design and no one has found a way to make it cheap and better
>>
>>30553780
>To be fair, though, the Garand would have been a damn good rifle if the Army Ordinance Board hadn't taken a shit on it.
If you mean that they converted it from using its own special snowflake ammo to their standard ammunition - you can't really blame them for it to be honest.
>>
>>30553468
the 2 in the OP
>>
>>30556781
You can still get them off arms list for like $300 bucks.

This one here.

Swissfags think it's the best shit ever because they rarely use anything else for 300meter shooting.

Americans think it's the holy grail because they can't own them.

Canadians jerk off to it because they can't own ARs properly.

The people that own them and other semi automatic rifles, know that this rifle is extremely overpriced and while it has very good accuracy, any AR15 that costs the same as a Sig 550 would outperform the Swiss rifle in every way.
>>
>>30553468

Glock.

Because it's ugly and uncomfortable as shit.

It also feels like plastic shit.
>>
>>30553505
That's a copy. The actual AKs don't explode like that if they ever do.
>>
>>30557215
It was spiked ammo. They put bad ammo around the battlefield for the enemy to find and blow their guns.

I don't know if i want to laugh or vomit

yeah, 1911 is classic cool and everything. but over rated when compared to modern platforms. I only spent $600 on my Colt 1911. but I already regret it. just dont like the platform at all.

Sig P226 all day, every day.
1911 is a classic curio/relic

This for so many reasons this

>Because it's ugly and uncomfortable as shit.

Too big for your hands, got it.
>>

Actually, we can. Even in the 30s, .30-06 was an outdated cartridge, and the .276 Pedersen would have made an excellent combat round--even by today's standards. Adoption of Garand's rifle in its original configuration could have advanced American small arms doctrine considerably, and would likely have led to the adoption of a round similar to 6.8 SPC for modern assault rifles.

This is all speculation, of course, but examination of modern military cartridges reveals that a lack of flexibility on the part of Army leaders in the first half of the 20th Century and the logistical burden of making changes in the present-day has significantly inhibited the adoption of superior rifle ammunition.

Furthermore, the advantages of converting the Garand to .30 were made pointless when America's entry into WWII prompted the production of new ammo that dwarfed the stockpiles remaining from the Great War.

The nugget meme marked /k/'s Golden Age.
>>
>>30557174
Its a glorified AK with tighter tolerances and the "muh swiss" bonus which adds 150% to the price its actually worth. Same with Stg57 and K31. , nothing more nothing less.
>>
>>30558274
Kek

Glockfags are so insecure
>>
>>30557174
That gal sure is a great example for what happens when you lock yourself keeping fresh genes out of your country. That incest...
>>
>>30558547
If the rifle cost 1500 Swiss Francs, the hype would be completely justifiable.

It's an extremely accurate gun, very reliable and sturdy.

The same applies to the other two you mentioned, the Swiss really make high quality guns, the only problem is the price/quality relation.

3500 dollars for this gun is just delusional because for that price you can get something way better in every way.
>>
>>30558615
>for that price you can get something way better in every way.
Such as? I'm not doubting you but I would like some examples if I ever feel like dropping that much on a single weapon.
>>
>>30553573
every 1911 ive ever owned has worked flawlessly. thats the most important issue for me. my CZ and colts work fine, and the only gun ive ever had a problem with is a .22 AR. picky with some kinds of ammo.
>>
>>30553645
but its cheap and fun to shoot.
>>
>>30558586
They'll be a surge of new genes for her to choose from soon, and in two colors too.
>>
>>30556604
I dunno. A wilson would be nice. Not worth what they charge, but a tool steel 1911 with the modified barrel link would be nice.
>>
>>30558791
Any high quality AR for the same price as a brand new Stgw 90 with a free floating barrel will outshoot and outperform the Stgw 90.
