Got my CMP field grade Garand and there is some surface rust on the receiver. What is the best chemical to remove it?

Also M1 thread. Share you stories.

go to home depot and in the paint aisle there will be this stuff called "Rust Remover". Its good at removing rust but it smells of horrible. Loctite brand is breddy gud but remember the smell and don't do it indoors

How hard is it to get a garand from cmp?
>>

Easy if you can follow instructions and don't receive a delay longer th n30 days from the NCIS check. The CMP must get a definite 'proceed' before shipping a rifle.

OG mark, someone told me what it was before and that I'll never know if it's an original or rebuild stock since the stamps went on both. Pic related "my" inspectors initials
>>

Well the circled P indicates that it is indeed a legit stock. Not fresh on circle P stocks without a cartouche though....

Remove the buttplate and see if there is a cross cannons stamp underneath.
>>
>>30538412
I've heard that too, the other story I heard was it was like Ogerland Arsenal or some shit like that. But Google turns up no results for that. Inspector seems the most likely to me. But OG is still probably the coolest thing to have stamped into your stock

Dude, its a deadmans rifle. You see the bloodrot, and the gas tube is all pitted as fuck as well. Someone died and bled out atop that rifle, face down in the mud.

As to all the retards in this thread, do no use Rust remover, or steel wool, or sandpaper, or any other stupid shit these retards like to spew.

Use a brass brush and scrub the shit outta it from every angle, then use a clean rag to wipe off all the bronze discoloration if it bothers you. It will naturally come off as you clean it and oil it, but some people dont like the goldish hue it leaves after a good scrubbin.

show us your inspection card.
