Hey /k/, Just got my first rifle. How did I do?
Yugoslavian SKS

Keep you gas system clean and it'll serve you well.
Many people will post here saying you fucked up. You only fucked up if the purchase makes you unhappy. The opinions of internet strangers is worth less than nothing.
I really don't understand why people make threads like this, frankly.
Just bought a Yugo SKS myself. Once I got all the fucking cosmoline off it, I was very satisfied. It's a versatile and reliable rifle, OP. Good pick.

Depends on how much you paid for it. Although you do have the advantage that it won't scare normies as much as an AR.
>>30536447
How much did you pay for it?
Price, tax, FFL transfer fee if applicable, etc
>>30536447
does it go pew pew?
Question, is it super long? Do you find the length handy any, or would it be relegated mostly to bench shooting? Thinking of getting one from classic

Good pick OP. A Yugo SKS was my first rifle as well. As was already said, attend to your gas system. Corrosive 7.62x39 isn't really around anymore but nonetheless, and unchromed barrel means more susceptibility to corrosion in general.
It's a fun gun, it's as accurate as it needs to be, and it will always go bang as long as you take care of it.
A few low-key accessories to look into are an aftermarket firing pin (there's one specifically that I can't remember who makes it that it comes with a spring to prevent slamfires), a buttstock pouch by strikehardgear (I have one on mine, simple, minimal, works gud), and tech sights if you don't fancy the stock leaf sights.

Not OP, but I've never really shot too much from a standing position, but it's a combat rifle so the last thought was bench shooting. It's definitely a little more hefty in the front than most, but I think of it as forearm exercise :)
My only experience shooting an SKS was that it was "painful" in a weird way. I think it was just my fear of blades and that my mind was tricking me that the bayonet would somehow gut me. Shooting anything else 7.62x39 never bothered me though.

Needs grenades.
Otherwise, bretty gud.

Is there any source to buy dummy grenades? I've always wanted one or a few for shits and giggles
I've never been a fan of Yugos, but it's still an SKS! I think you did good, how much did you pay for it and what state?
My Norinco Factory /316\.

Got those 4 from a guy selling them on the AKFiles.
Here's the thread, looks like he bumped it fairly recently.

awesome, thanks

I got myself a Yugo SKS as my first rifle for my birthday, and I'll be able to finally shoot it at the end of July. Had to do a full strip on it to remove all the residual cosmoline left on it, which is why it may have been hardly used in the first place.
But it's definitely a beautiful gun
