They're hollow points. With extremely hollow points. Their points are so hollow that it takes away about half of what a 9mm bullet normally weighs.
I'm assuming the idea is that a lighter round moving so quickly will enter the target expanding quickly and penetrate deep, but 12 inch penetration into ballistic gel is not very impressive at all and with those big ass hollow tips a whole lot of junk is going to get caught in them on the bullet's way into a target.

I'm glad I'm not the only anon here who makes it a point to have at least a mag's worth of self defense ammo for every firearm he owns.
I need to get some mini-mags or stingers for my mini revolver but other than that everything is kept loaded up all the time.

I was making a joke about their reputation as teflon coated cop killer bullets. Dipshits back in the day thought they were teflon coated like certain AP rounds, and would go right through a bulletproof vest. They do have a coating on the bullets, but it's not teflon and the only purpose of the coating was to reduce barrel wear. Also, they were never banned for sale like some idiots think they were, Winchester just stopped making them. Winchester still produces ammo with the same SXT type bullet, but without the black coating.
