This guys right, OP. I fell for the mosin meme too. Once I bout a (Mauser, k31, smle, 1917 ect) I realized that the mosin wasn't built to the best quality possible. I've heard the Finn m39 is good but Russian slavshit has kind of turned me off. I had three mosins and only one was reliable and 2 MOA. But a Spanish Mauser from the 50s. The come in 8mm or .308
Pic related is my small but growing collection of mausers

How exactly did you "clean" it? By scrubbing the tip of your needledick across the metal surfaces?

You can't seriously look at those photos and tell me you think that chamber and bolt are clean.

I don't "hate" any firearm brother. I dislike some that I've shot, and enjoy my Milsurp more than my AR PTR or FAL, but to each thier own.

OP Mosins are cool guns, but you have to find a gem. I love Mosins and all, but they were always shit tier.

I run a K98 now, even with a frosty bore she shoots so fucking true for such an old military gun. Mosins just don't have that kind of accuracy even with a ton of mods. My 98 was made in '41 and I can still get 3"-4" groups at 150-200 yards with shitty milsurp ammo, and a high mileage barrel.

PPU is about $1 a round, and it shoots good.

You can find milsurp stuff fairly cheap if you can find it, but beware, it's dirty fucking stuff and inconsistent at times. Make sure you clean your bore with windex first after shooting any berdan primed or corrosive ammo (most milsurp usually is) and find a nice bore compound to run through after. Pic related, I suggest this stuff. It does wonders for my 98.
>>
>>30436412
Windex WITH ammonia, I'll add. Otherwise it's useless.

The ammonia kills the salts that cause corrosion
>>
>>30436412
Ive heard about the corrosive stuff. Im just planning on buying non corrosive anyways. I live in the same city as a pretty major police supply store but I doubt they carry 8mm. They only sell certain brands of guns and milsurps they dont have.
>>
>>30436478
8mm isn't too popular in the US because .30-06 is our "heritage" cartridge, if you will, and they are very similar ballistically. So most companies don't produce a lot of it or import it because most people just run .30-06 or .308. Not a lot of sense in mass producing a somewhat obsolete cartridge. I however fucking love the 8mm.

I ran 8mm exclusively for a while until I built my AR, now I run it secondary but still buy it whenever I find it. It's got more of a drop compared to .30-06 and .308 because of the bigger projectile, but you can still get some good yardage out of it.

Check around on gunbot.net or ask your LGS if they can have some ordered for you if you live in a state where you can't have ammo shipped.
>>
>>30436412
>>30436424
Go spout bullshit somewhere else.
Windex is less effective at removing corrosive salts than plain old water.
>>
>>30436424

fudd bullshit, windex is not converting sodium chloride into another element.

all you need is water to flush out the salt, windex is useless.
>>
>>30435061
I have a sticky bolt. Can't figure it out still. Things I've seen suggested:

- Sand down the outsides of the firing pin spring so it moves easier
- Cut the firing ping spring shorter
- Polish the chamber with a wire brush and polishing compound

I think these things were just shittily made
>>
>>30437320

Windex comes in a convenient spray bottle and smells nice.

Hot water is great, just like for black powder.
>>
>>30437496
will mothers mag polish work you think?
>>
>>30435061
I was in a similar situation. Mosin had a sticky bolt, and tended to have a lot of difficulty extracting.

I disassembled the bolt, cleaned it, but dry firing shows the bolt is still stiff.

I bought a M48 Yugo Mauser, and the difference between the two was like night and day. Even with minor cosmoline residue on the bolt, the Mauser ran much smoother with the Mosin (although it had a sticky bolt with surplus Turkish 8mm); and that was before I disassembled and cleaned the bolt.

I recommend what >>30435069 says, get a Mauser.
>>
>>30437320
>>30437188
Well when one is at the range that's your best bet unless you bring a camping stove to boil some water on.

Windex always worked for me, my bore stays shiny.

I've used boiling water as well. Either or works you pretentious faggots.

>>30435061
>>30435061

you probably have a burr/slight corrosion in your chamber.

post pics of your empty shell casings, do they have scratches on them?

how didd you clean it? you need to take a brass brush, and put it on the end of an electric drill, and spin the fuck out of that shit with solvent for like 2 minutes
>>
>>30437496
no no no. dont cut shit, dont sand shit. just use a wire brush with a drill and clean the fuck out of that chamber, leave the bolt alone.

and dont shoot laquer coated shit
>>
>>30435061
Hey there OP, I had a problem with my Mosin bolt sticking and it ended up being the ammo. My Polish M44 just doesn't like Czech surplus. Yugo brass surplus and Wolf steel case works fine, so try those maybe?

Since you've already tried a couple different types of ammo, perhaps you should try polishing the bolt. Take some fine grit metal sandpaper, and sand the exterior of the bolt while applying oil. Do not hit the bolt face or the firing pin. After that, wipe it down and take a Dremel or power drill to it with a polishing bit and polishing compound. If nothing else it'll get your bolt looking nice; mine had a mirror finish when i did it.

Good luck, Mosins may be (no longer so) cheap slavshit but I still have fun shooting mine. If all else fails you can try replacing the bolt or the receiver/barrel if you want to bother spending the money to shoot that old milsurp. If you give up, there are plenty of other Mosins out there as well as Mausers, Lee Enfields, K31s and others that you can have a go with if your heart is set on an old military bolt action.
>>
>>30435061
>get ammo
>paint ammo
>chamber round

???

If the round comes out without to much damage to the paint then it's probably your bolt or something else
>>
>>30435061
you need to go get a surplus 5.56 chamber brush, and then put a shitload of CLP on it and spin the fatter part against the walls where the lugs are located. Problem with you fucks is you go all giddy and shoot that shit with cosmoline still inside it, and it literally fries itself to the chamber and lugs like a niggerpaint from hell.

I'd squirt non-chlorinated brake parts cleaner on the brush too, just so it cuts the shit down. Dont do dumb shit like valve lapping compound and grinding away with files and shit, you just need to get a brush in the crevasse where the lugs are.
>>
>>30435082
>cleaned chamber
are you dumb nigger?

I can see the cosmo all over it still..... Its not the inside of the chamber you need to clean, its everywhere else inside there.

>>30435182
>its been cleaned
Holy fuck imma have to show you in paint..... Go buy a brass toothbrush tomorrow.
>>
>>30435082
i can see your problem that's causing the sticking. see those pitting spots in the chamber? your round is expanding and filling in all those little divots. see if you can polish that a little bit
>>
>>30435061
Oil the cam surface on the striker and bolt body. Grease is preferred, but oil works. Also the front and rear of the bolt handle portion that contacts the receiver.

Here ya go. Red shows where you need to hit HARD with that brush. Its a 90deg cut in there, and 100% sure its got caked on shit, just like the rest of what you've shown. you need to get the brush in there BEHIND it so the bristles get into the corner you cannot see.

and terrible machining. this was it when i bought it.
>>
>>30438082
ok here is what you need to do. get a sharpie, and make a mark at the rim. you will insert this directly into the chamber with your finger with the mark at 12'oclock. Next, keeping your finger off the trigger, slam the bolt home and lock it. Next eject the round by working the bolt. Note if it is tougher to extract than when you fired it, or if not firing it is easier. Then, take pics of round from 4 side (3,6,9,12) and show me.

remember, dont pull trigger on live round, unless you aim it at ur head first.
>>
>>30438138
i tried the red army in my OP pic today and I like it because its cheaper but the soft tips on the hunting loads wont tear up some targets i use. i just shot paper today.
>>
>>30438082
>i dont know what its made of it came in a hoppes kit
That would be brass. And looking at your casings I would agree you have a burr or some other minor deformation in your chamber.
>>
>>30438239
>And looking at your casings I would agree you have a burr or some other minor deformation in your chamber.
I bet some fuckstick was trying to "work da bolt like a conskript" with empty, shot steelcases, and smashed the fuck outta the chamber rim to make them burrs. Depends on how it looks when he does what I said here>>30438204

Remember, the long mark is from the ejector/feeder
>>
>>30438204
i can do this but i cant fire a round off in a suburban neighborhood. its almost nothing to put a round in close bolt, and slightly rougher opening and ejecting the still live round. but when you actually fire the shot and try to extract the casing it is like trying to pull teeth on a grizzly. will it help if i do the sharpie on an unfired round and show you?
>>
>>30438271
yes, thats what I want you to do. Make sure it is a fresh round with no scratches on it already. Also, take another pic of your chamber face after you wipe off all that "WD40"

Dude, you've got a seriously fucked chamber. I was going to suggest 4O steel wool on a piece of split brass round bar stock mounted in a hand drill, but damn. I know pics aren't a great way to judge depth on something like that, but you've got a chamber there that you may want to have a gunsmith look at. You're probably fine for one shot (except for the 2x4 you have to carry around to get it to extract), but I'd think twice about reloading those cases.
>>
>>30438654
Make sure you oil it before you do anything, it will rust if you leave it with nothing after spraying brakeparts cleaner. My guess is on what I stated here>>30438269

You are gonna have to get a roundfile and bend it so you can get a good angle on there. Maybe a piece of wood and some sandpaper would be a better route, but you dont want to remove too much material, just the burrs. I put dashes where they look highest.

And make sure you get a scraper in where I drew the arrows. Even a piece of bent Copper electrical wire would work to get behind those lugs and scrape out dried/caked cosmo.

fuckin forgot the 9000hrsinpaint.jpg

Best thing is prolly go to homedepot, and buy a 7/32 chainsaw file, cut off about half of it, and bend it in a vice or two 2x4's and a hammer. Remember, you want it to cut on the pull-stroke, not on push, so you wanna use the top half of it.

Otherwise, maybe get a wood dowel and 400grit sandpaper, put the dowel in a drill, shave a long taper onto it with half a sheet, and use the other half to grind it down.
