Area I used to live in was a sighting hotbed in my early teens. Mostly just lights in the sky but some reports of cattle mutilations.
Our home was at the top of a hill in a housing plan and my room was at the very top on the third floor. I could see for miles out of my bedroom window.
So for several summers in a row there were a series of lights moving in formation erratically during the night off in the distance. Most people pretended they didn't exist, probably not believing they had actually seen what they did.
One morning in middle school I remember staring out the bus window at the break of dawn and seeing a boomerang shaped object in the sky several miles(?) away. It oriented itself from a horizontal position to a vertical position and began ascending until I couldn't see it anymore.
Sightings seemed to die down when I was 16 or so but I slept with terror every night thinking that they could come down at any time.
